I finished this book and was a little confused as to the authors views on eugenics cause it felt like the author was beating around the bush. When I picked this up, I was expecting this to be a critique on eugenics…..as im reading I’m like…..this whole book revolves around eugenics and the word isn’t being used, nor does there seem to be any actual analysis on the societal effect that these practices would have on soooo many people, especially minorities….so I’m like there’s gotta be some plot twist at the end that will show how the problem right? I finish, and nope….nothing. If anything, the author seems to support it. I started googling to see if I could find anything and then saw that she recently retweeted Zionist propaganda. Please do not support this author. I’m sad to say I had no idea about any of this when I purchased the book last year or started reading it. FREE PALESTINE!

I was soooo excited to read this cause the synopsis is sooo intriguing…..but unfortunately the book was not. I could tell pretty early on that I probably wasn’t going to like it, but I told myself I’d read until at least page 100 before I dnfed…..I didn’t make it that far lol. It’s not that it was bad or anything, some things just really irked me and I just wasn’t invested in anything. I didn’t like how we’re expecting Arthie to be super badass and then within the first 10 pages she’s blushing over a guy who is supposed to be her enemy….absolutely no build up or tension. There’s a lot of explaining in this book. Instead of dropping a detail and letting us form our own conclusion or opinion, there’s a lot of over explaining. I decided to skip to one of the last chapters to see if it would entice me to finish it but it just confirmed that it wasnt for me :( I would definitely recommended trying it if you like the concept! Just cause it wasn’t for me doesn’t mean it wont be for you :)

This was a mixed bag for me. I was really enjoying their banter and how they cared for each other emotionally, but I didn’t enjoy how quick to sex every one of their interactions were.
I know the third act break up is quintessential to contemporary romance and I’ve accepted that, but I HATED the one in this. Once it started, I honestly didn’t even care to see how it turned out cause what happened annoyed me so much 😭 it did end up wrapping up nicely but I was just so done lol. This would’ve been a 3.75 ⭐️ if not for the last quarter.
Absolutely loved the representation in this!! Chronic illness and male domestic abuse survivors.

Really enjoyed this one!! It took a little while to get into it because of the multiple povs. Loved the character work, and of course the magical animal side kick. Lin and Jovis were definitely the most interesting. The twists and turns were sooooo good and the ending was unexpected but great. I’m gonna be reading book 2 right away!
