This was so compelling and well written while also being one of the most disturbing books I’ve ever read. Please do yourself a favor and check the trigger warnings before reading! There are so many horrific and horrendous things that happen in this book, and I’ve seen a lot of reviews that feel that they happen just for shock value. I would disagree, I definitely think that the author goes overboard at times, but all the events in the book serve the message of the story. How the rich take advantage of the poor, women’s oppression-being tied down to men and motherhood, how religion is used to suppress the wants and feelings of the underprivileged and make them accepting of their own suffering. I wasn’t able to put this book down during the first half, but I do feel like the ending was a little rushed. Overall, I think it’s a great book but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. It’s definitely not for everybody!

Really odd and challenging concept, with some really beautiful writing. I’m not sure if the author achieved what he wanted to with this one, but I’m really interested to read his other works. I think it might’ve worked better for me had it been longer and more in depth with the changes of society and world building rather than being so character focused.

Once again, really enjoyed this short story collection. I liked the Bounds of Reason but it was a bit too long. A Shard of Ice was pretty good. Eternal Flame was so much fun. Did not care for A Little Sacrifice. The Sword of Destiny and Something More are the obvious stand outs and I thought they were both great. I loved how we got more in depth with the relationship between Geralt and Yennefer, and we learned a lot more about Geralt as well. And of course, we meet Ciri for the first time. I love all the powerful female characters so far in the series, but I will say that this one had a bit more misogyny than in the Last Wish, which is disappointing cause you can tell that the author is often making a statement throughout the book about the importance of a women’s agency and choices. There were definitely a few lines and moments that were genuinely kind of uncomfortable for me personally. Overall though, I really enjoyed this collection and I’m excited to start the main story.
I was actually really enjoying this until around 120 pages when we learn that the MC is attracted to her step brother…..I had gotten some weird vibes a few times but I thought I was being paranoid…. It seems like from some reviews that they do end up together but tbh I didn’t look too hard into to cause I’m already uncomfortable enough as it is lol either way I’m not continuing. Really disappointing cause the plot was very intriguing and the writing was great.

I can’t lie, I ate this book up lol I ended up finishing it in one sitting. Overall, it’s just a fun and quick read. I thought the romance was cute and sexy. There are some obvious flaws, there is some issues with consent when the main couple meets and there is a pretty unnecessary rape scene in the first 15 pages. Otherwise, I don’t have much to say lol read it if it’s something that you think you’ll like. If you want to read and skip the rape scene, start at page 18.

I understand why everyone loves this book so much, but unfortunately, it didn't do much for me. This is my first book by the author, and I think he's an extremely talented writer. Very descriptive scenery, and beautiful prose. The first third of the book was really intriguing, but I quickly started losing interest. I read via audiobook at 2.5x speed, and the narrator is great, but I don't believe that format is the best way to read this book. There are so many characters being introduced constantly, and so many moving parts that over audio, it was really hard to keep track. None of the characters introduced after the first third were memorable, and they all had some vague connection with some other character that was barely in the book as well. I honestly couldn't tell you what happened in the last half of the book because of that reason lol. I was constantly rewinding the audio in hopes of trying to remember what connection the current random side character had to the plot, but I really just couldn't. The motivation for a few of the key players aren't explained by the end. I felt very sad for Darlene, and I really did not like or understand the reasoning behind the plot line with Kellie. It didn't add anything to the story, other than make Titus less likeable. I really dislike in stories when a male character has a great supportive gf but is more interested in the "wildcard" woman.....This book also did not need to be as long as it was. I will try other books by this author, and definitely via ebook rather than audio lol. If the plot synopsis intrigues you, I would say go for it and try it. If you start losing interest, I don't think there's anything that happens later in the story that will change your mind. I also am just not a fan of cops so….The author had some good commentary on the way missing black children are treated, along with other views regarding racism towards black people in America and religion in black communities. I really enjoyed the authors writing, and I can see myself liking a different one of his books. He is great at writing inner monologue as well.

Really enjoyable and solid fantasy, and a great introduction to the series. I really liked Geralt as a MC, he’s very interesting and witty. I liked seeing the importance of the friendship between Geralt and Dandelion, and I can’t wait to see more of Yennefer. A Grain of Truth, The Lesser Evil and The Last Wish were the standout stories. This series started in 1993, and although there are definitely some issues with misogyny and some brief ableism and fatphobia, I feel like for its time it was no where near as bad as other media at its time. There are some moments where I felt like “really? :/“ but overall I was able to get through the book without issue but I can totally understand some people not being comfortable with it though. I will say, the brief time in which we saw female characters like Yennefer and Calanthe, they are fully fleshed out and interesting characters on their own. Overall, I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

Really fun and fast paced slasher with great narration. Writing style is a bit stream of consciousness which I don’t normally enjoy but I liked it here. Unreliable narrator and a campy storyline, definitely an enjoyable read.

This was stupid as hell but super fun lol. Nothing about the plot made sense and none of the characters were likable or interesting but still somehow this book managed to be entertaining.

An extremely important read on the past hundred years of colonization and displacement that the indigenous people of Palestine have been put through. I strongly urge everyone to read this book and educate themselves on this topic. Free Palestine!!! 🇵🇸
