I just didn't feel connected or like I really understood what she was trying to convey. There is definitely a heavy emphasis on motherhood and marriage, neither of which I currently experience.

I really loved the concept for this book and the characterization utilized was fantastic - it really drew you in to the idea of real people embodying the different boroughs of New York City. However, I felt so lost with the magical realism used and several times had to reread passages to try to understand the multidimensional concepts being discussed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I loved the slow of the story told and how the characters weave throughout the four parts. I find the concept of the cafe and time travel was used really well to showcase how the loss of a variety of relationships can impact people in how they carry on with their life.
