I read about 80% of this and was fine with what I thought the ending could be. When I started reading book 2: Vindicated I learned that there’s some major baby mama drama with the hero and his ex and I was no longer interested about that OW. I’m glad I stopped reading before that part of the book.

Be Mine Forever (St. Helena Vineyard, Book 4) by Marina Adair (Netgalley arc)
3★

At the beginning Trey got on my nerves though with his desire to do only "manly things" - like loving and spending time with your kid isn't a manly thing to do in his book, let alone always talking about them. Just didn't like him. The storyline was predictable and even had the pushy family members that helped the main characters realize that they're in love (like they couldn't do that on their own). I jumped into the middle of this series. I think this could be a stand-alone book as I wasn’t confused. And I might read others if it's still available for Kindle Prime Loaning (borrowing). The California setting was nice.

A decent short chick lit book. I would've liked the story longer but it was ok for a short novella.

I’ve been going through all my Netgalley books this past month to keep or delete the books I will review. I was going to just skip this book but the fake romance trope is my favorite so I ended up reading it. There was parts of this that I liked and a whole lot that bugged me.

Fighting for You (2013) by Sydney Landon (NG)
(Danvers: Book 4)

Too much sex (and talked too much about it too). Didn't like how the characters had such low self-esteem - Declan and Ella/ "Ellie". Both thinking that they aren't good enough or that the other doesn't love them. And the fact that Ella is a big doormat before loosing her virginity.
The whole next morning event was ridiculous (and not in the funny way) - Ella's family barging into the bedroom and shocked to find them naked in bed, and then staying there to have an argument.
Won't continue this series either. Just thought it was silly and average.

Another Netgalley book I wasn’t sure I’d read but ended did anyway.

Marked to 2⭐️ because my pet peeve with the whole pregnancy being a conflict that would help solve for a HEA. The story would’ve been fine without that. And maybe without how the h felt about sex too (vanilla, anal , etc). Also some scenes after the 50% mark were just dull and I was actually skipping ahead a lot.

Marking it a 2⭐️ and not 1 because I think I’ll keep this copy from Netgalley (even with the small typos I found). I haven’t read the first book with these brothers and honestly I was not lost with what was going on there as there’s a lot so story going on in this book. So maybe I’ll keep my copy for a reread. At least now I know the sections I can live without reading.
