This is book 4 in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I read The first 3 books around 2015, so it took a moment to remember what happened to Arthur and Ford. I was lost for maybe a moment because book 4 jumped ahead a few years or so from book 3.
Arthur has found his way back to earth and Ford is still up to his mischievous ways while also writing his parts to the Hitchhiker’s Guide. But wait. Didn’t Earth blow up in the first book? It even blew up within the first 30 or so minutes of the movie a Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Wow. So Earth is back and the only ones who find this odd is Arthur, Ford and two other mysterious people. And the dolphins. The dolphins just vanished. What happened? So many things that are curious that aren’t answered, just like the answer 42 to the unknown question. The most mysterious thing is how our body would react after seeing our planet blown up and then another moment being on that same planet. Do we react like nothing has happened? Would our body accept the fact that there’s this new planet and that it could be Earth?
Throughout all these mysterious things I enjoyed all Arthur’s humor. Well, dull humor. I read the physical book while simultaneously listening to audiobook. I have the hardcover Canterbury Classics edition The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. This is my first time reading the series and I don’t think I could’ve survived without the audiobooks. It’s helped make the story more fun.
Now about those dolphins...
“No dolphins. All gone. Vanished.”
She searched his face.
“Did you really not know that?”
It was clear from his startled expression that he did not.
“Where did they go?” he asked.
“No one knows. That’s what vanished means.”

So, imagine those Hallmark and Lifetime holiday movies. This book is exactly that. Predictable and unrealistic but a decent romance non the less. Thanksgiving is a formulaic romance book Evanovich wrote in the late 1980's, with a mix of some American Holiday chaos.
The romance between Megan's and Pat starts with a runaway bunny (Pat's), a baby (young Tilly's boy left to Dr Pat while she runs off for 2 weeks without contact) and then a horse giving birth (Megan's Aunt's horse). All unbelievable stuff, but needed in order to create the need for a family life for Megan and Pat. But in the mix of all this start-up-family life and instant-love-at-first-sight is a Thanksgiving chaos. Pat and Megan's families all together for Thanksgiving dinner was a little cute.
I didn't care much for Megan's as she felt to wishy-washy to me. I did like Pat though. There's not much character development. And the constant change of point of views from Megan and Pat made it a little hard to really like a character, let alone feel connected to them.
In all this is a cute chick lit holiday read. The beginning was good, but the ending was a little slow and too long. It did remind me a lot of the Hallmark and Lifetime movies that I watch. They're nice to watch a couple of times during the holidays, so as to brighten the holiday mood. I did like Evanovich's description of the town. That helped bring the Thanksgiving theme to life in the book.

Reading in summer 2012. 3.5 stars
I've read a lot of Suzanne's older works and love them. This is about 3.5 stars. It's predictable and a little outdated. Marshall Devlin is a very likeable hero. I liked Leila Hunt just at times she can be so annoying. There constant fighting is a bit overboard. I thought it was only just cute that Marshall helped Leila find her New-Years-Kiss-Ninja. This is a typical Suzanne story. I don't think I'll continue reading this series though. In Kiss and Tell, there's a taste of Simon Hunt and Leila's bff Frankie's budding romance. This is a nice breath away from Suzanne's sharpshooters and Navy Seals
Re-read in 2013.
