This is a reread for me. The last time I read the series was more than 10 years ago. This is The Vampire Diaries series. The original 4 books before the hype for vampires and witches. The tv show is nothing like the books. Sure the first three books is all about Stefen and Damon Salvatore vampire brothers and their love for the Homecoming Queen, Elena Gilbert.
Dark Reunion is the 4th (and I felt the final book) of this series. Smith didn't write anything more about the Salvatore brothers and Elena and her friends again until 2009 - which I think is when the tv show started. After rereading this now, I still find this book to be the best one in the true 4 book series. It might be a bit outdated. But I still enjoyed reading this book than say... Twilight. At least Dark Reunion had more of a suspenseful plot and more character development. It's still very much a teen young adult book.
I think if one wanted to read a Vampire Diaries book, then Dark Reunion would be a good one. Even though it's the fourth book, it wasn't confusing to read. There is also a lot of recap explanations of the previous 3 books.

Helen Fielding is an excellent comedic in this Bridget series. The first portion of the book Bridget had me laughing right at the start. Her New Years resolution was long with will not and wills. But there were some resolutions that I could even relate to.
The English slang words were both cute and funny. There's also Jone's abbreviations (i.e.: v. and v.g. = very and very good) that even I found myself using for a little while.
Her love triangle with her boss Daniel Cleaver (all bad boy) and lawyer Mark Darcy (good guy) is really romantic. Daniel is the guy that she resolved not to obsess about as he is an alcoholic, workaholic, commitment phobic, chauvinist and emotional f-wits (all things she also resolved not to fall for). Mark is the good guy who finishes last. Yes, he was already taken (the woman was a crazy needy woman who didn't love him). Yes, he couldn't make decision or stand up for himself (the clothes he wore were his mother's choices). But after a while I could tell that she should pick the lawyer over the cheat.
This is a good Brit-lit series (2 1/2 books). Bridget is a little over the top at times, but that's what makes the character so funny

An ok Nora book. When I first read this book, Borders bookstore was doing quite well in 1999. I didn't buy this book, instead I went to this store and read it. I believe it took me two visits to Borders to finish it. I liked the story plot and the hero/ heroine. I just forgot the title and the author. Been searching for more than a decade and presto - it's an ebook now.
Now granted I read this book when I was 19 yo (currently 36) so a lot of it is still foggy. Heck I couldn't even remember the author. But I remember the plot was close to How to Steal a Million staring Audrey Hepburn. So you can maybe understand my frustration whenever I see this movie. I love both Audrey and the movie. I was mad at the book.
Well now that that is sorted I feel better. I liked the heroine and hero interaction. The whole Italian family was good (my Dad's mom was first generation American Italian).
But since I'm rusty with this book I'm going to read it again. (my local library has the ebook available for borrowing. It then gets transferred to my Kindle). I'm just happy that I found the book again.
I shall update after reading the book.
After reading it:
Now I know why I read it so quickly the first time in '99. The pacing is really SLOW. The heroine was annoying and weak. I ended up skipping pages. Page upon page of discussing her work process, materials, etc. And then it was pages of the heroine crying "woo as me." But the hero was great. And Andrew was sort of ok.
I recommend that you use the library's resources like I did. It wasn't worth me buying in '99 and it still isn't worth it.
On a lighter note, this book did get me to read Nora's other books.

This has a more realistic and completely different HEA ending than the movie. If it weren't for Hugh Jackman, I would've been mad that the heroine fell in love with the commitment phobic guy (who probably has STD). The book made the guy out to be twice worse than Barney Stentson from How I Met Your Mother.
