College class assignment. I enjoyed the plot. The writing was a little slow. If it wasn't a class assignment I might not have read this.
Better then the movie "The Wedding Date." Sophy Metcalfe tells a lie to her family about her non-existent boyfriend - Dominic.
Her sister, Belinda, is getting married. So of course Sophy has to conjure up this made up boyfriend. She then hires an escort through a friend. Josh Carmichael is more than he seems as an escort server.
Young's writing and humor is quite good. I've read this book too many times to count. The romance and interaction is both light and cute.
The only downside was Sophy's self-esteem. She complained too much about her being overweight it even made the Hero annoyed.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2005) by J. K. Rowling 5★♥
(Harry Potter: Book 6 series)
Another reread of this great fantasy story. Really love this book the most. Funny comedy, action and adventure and teen drama stuff all wrapped up.
Harry Potter's 6th year at Hogwarts. Voldermort has been forced to show the Ministry that he is indeed alive. So now everyone believes that Harry is "The Chosen One", but only Harry (and Dumbledore, Ron and Hermione) knows what for. And then there's other stuff. Like Dumbledore giving Harry extra lessons, which are all about what Dumbledore knows about who Voldermort is and what he's done. Harry's also the Gryffindor quidditch captain, so a little more responsibility for him there. And what the movie doesn't show is that Ron and Hermione are Prefects for the second time. And then their's Harry's emotions. Teen angst, obsession with what Draco Malfoy is doing and a struggle to keep his love for Ginny in check ("She's Ron's sister!"). Movie doesn't show that the two got together and I wished they had because it was so cute, and also silly.
Oh and then there is the Half-Blood Prince's Advanced Potions book that Harry found. Harry loves the book because he thinks he's learned a lot more about potions from the Prince than he had from Professor Snape. (spoiler) And that's ironic because the Half-Blood Prince turned out to be Snape.
SPOILER
But the ending. Tear jerker every time I've reread this. And rereading this with knowing who Snape really is loyal to... well this book and Harry's opinion of Snape had me disliking the guy all over again. But I noticed something, Dumbledore actually tried to hint a few times who Snape is. It was just before Harry and Dumbledore went to the caves, when Harry was angry at Snape and at Dumbledore for trusting him. So Dumbledore actually let slip a few times why Snape had chosen to switch sides, even though he promised not to tell Harry the truth.
END SPOILER
I think there was a lot more adventure and action in this book than the others. Harry was always doing something, be it flying around on the quidditch field or going into the Pensieve with Dumbledore to observe people's memories of Voldermort. And the ending was a gripping page turner, from the cave to the Astronomy Tower. And comparing this book to the movie, well I noticed a lot of differences. Like...
well another slight SPOILER:
Harry hid the Half-Blood Prince's Potions book in a cupboard and places a bust statue and added the Ravenclaw Diadem to it, so that he'd know where the book was if he wanted it back. But I thought it was interesting that Harry didn't even sense that the diadem was a horcrux. I wanted to throttle Harry for that mistake.
END SPOILER
I love this book and it was fun rereading this for the uptenth time (lost count really). And I will no doubt reread it again in the future. And every time, I seem to find something new that I didn't notice before or forgot about.

“Friendship in younger years can be especially hard because our worlds are small. In high school and beyond, I found many supportive, lifelong friends. If you haven’t found your “group” yet, hang in there. Your world will keep growing larger and wider. You deserve to have friends, the kind who treat you well and get how amazing you are.”
(From Author’s note at the end of this beautiful book).
I loved this book. There was a lot of nostalgic moments in this. I related a lot to Shannon, and not just because she has a great imagination, love for books, and that old fashioned computer (which is exactly like what my family’s computer looked like). I also related to Wendy just because she was the oldest. But seriously this was so good.
In elementary I too suffered from being bullied. A lot. I didn’t have a “hiding-shrub” like Shannon did so it was harder to avoid being bullied. High school and on was a lot better. Then I joined the Navy in 2003 and served for 4 years.
Reading this now as someone who has lost connection from “civilian life” and “The Group”, this book is a bit of a tear jerker but also empowering. That last quote (the one above) is something I’ll remember. Thanks Shannan.

This was a 2009 audio listen. 4 stars for both the audiobook and the storyline. I later purchased the book to read as well. It's Brashares's first adult book after writing some Traveling Pants series. I could tell that it was a first adult book because there was times Alice and Riley were acting younger than they were.
4 stars and read in June 2012.
This is a first author book I read. I really enjoyed it and I'm now looking into more works by Susanne. The story of the two close friends is both heartwarming and funny.
The two best friends storyline and the sky resort setting intrigued me the most. I loved Clare the most because I can relate to her care free attitude. Just wish that Patrick was more caring towards Clare. He was a bit self-centered in my opinion. He even reminded me of some of my exes. I liked Bernard but felt that he was more a backdrop character.
I think the best way to describe this book is it's drama. Penny Freeman's the queen of the melodramatic. I wasn't to interested in reading about Penny's point of view. This character puts all other Drama Queens to shame. She's even over dramatic about having menopause, acting like it was the end of the world.
I bout this back in May of 2012 and have read it twice now. It's a good chick lit story.
