i would consider this a high fantasy novel as it had a lot of elements to keep track of...i was often lost...having said that i did enjoy the storyline and the writing and i did enjoy the conclusion...there were definitely parts where i was drawn in but then i would loose the thread again
so unless i missed it he never actually rode the blue comet so the title is a little misleading
beyond my hangup with the title i liked the story...interesting approach to the concept of time travel
a little unhappy with the snippets of history that were introduced but never really fully fleshed out...who was dutch?...i mean i figured out that it was ronald regan but would most of the intended audience?...the mommy issues with joan crawford?...again not something most kids would know

a modern retelling of Jane Eyre...i picked it up on the recommendation of a co-worker and because i liked Jane Eyre...last night about 10:30 i decided to read for about 30 mins or so before i went to bed...i finally forced myself to stop reading and go to bed at 2 am...really engrossing read
so i decided to read this book because i really enjoyed deadline by chris crutcher and they share an idea of knowing you are going to die and trying to do everything to make your mark on the world before it happens
when i first started reading deathday i wasn't sure i was going to enjoy it...the nature of the humor in the book was unexpected and i wasn't really liking it...then i took a step back and approached the book from a different angle mentally and i found that i really enjoyed it...the things he learns and comes to understand about himself i'm still struggling with as an adult
