I thought there was some continued development in this book but not enough. We didn't learn a lot about the characters. They didn't really develop any more in this book then from where they left off in the other book. It took a really long time to accomplish little in this book.
Had a moment or two of having to suspend the believability of how the story played out but I did like reading more about Corey.
I have read books about the Underground Railroad in the past. For me I enjoyed this book because these slaves went all the way to Canada for their freedom. Some books say that some slaves go to Canada but this is the first book I have read where the the storyline played out that far.
I don't know. It wasn't awesome or great. It starts off a little jarring especially considering when you leave the 2nd book Virginia is in Washington, D.C. and this one opens with them moving into a house in New York City and it takes awhile for the reason they are moving to New York to be shared. The storyline didn't seem to make a lot of forward progress here.
The characters didn't experience much growth here until the very very end. It was a little disturbing when Virginia wrote in her diary that she wanted to die. A little much for the intended audience of this book.
It was ok. The book group liked it. I think the story structure (a little disjointed) and the humor appealed to them.
