A solid little glimpse into Dorothea's past.

Such a fun read. Full review to come.

Gorgeous settings, plenty of action and kickass characters, The Ship of Shadows is a wonderful, fun, enchanting read. Whether Aleja is at home in her fathers tavern, exploring a magic ship or riding a camel through the desert, Kuzniarѓ??s rich descriptive writing pulls you into the story and brings this world and time to life. I absolutely loved it all.

Every character was superbly put together, each with their own voice. I loved the clothing descriptions, the outfits where beautiful and outlandish and damn it, I want a place on the Ship of Shadows. This book would make a stunning movie.

Iѓ??m an absolute sucker for the found family trope and these girls, each with their own skills, wormed their way into my heart and I was cheering for them the whole way. Malika had me gasping, Frances had me laughing and damn it, make sure you have snacks. This is a MUST have snacks while reading kind of book. Like seriously, you are going to want brownies and hot chocolate.

Also, even though we have a found family, Aleja didnѓ??t have a horrible upbringing or massive tragedy that lead to her getting involved with the girls on The Ship of Shadows. I thought this was great as the whole tragedy idea can get quite old. Aleja becomes apart of this amazing sisterhood and a pirate while she is at it.

I donѓ??t want to say to much about the story and give it away, I just want you to get yourself a copy, set aside a couple of hours and immerse yourself in this well written tale, allow the magic to sweep you away and join Aleja and the crew as they take on all the challenges the sea has to offer.

Snowed In tries to be a lot of things and it tries to hit some heavy subjects which I have absolutely no problem with. Unfortunately I donѓ??t think it was executed well at all. There were so many random info drops that it felt like you were reading straight from a textbook. I loved that the author wanted to shine a light on so many issues that are facing society today, I loved that they so obviously werenѓ??t afraid of putting their opinion out there, it was just too much in such a small story.

The author made sure they filled the story with a wonderful range of diverse characters, with a diverse range of issues, unfortunately there were so many shoved into the story that we didnѓ??t even get to scratch the surface with anyone. All we got to see was our mcѓ??s reaction to them all and her ability to treat everyone, no matter their issues, with a perfect response. I was a massive fan of the mental health themes throughout, it was so refreshing to see a man able to open up and be vulnerable. I also liked the coverage of brain injuries in sport themes and the long term damage that can and does occur. It brought a lot of depth to the story. I 100% admit there was more than one scene in which I sobbed.

I really enjoyed the romance and I do like what I think the author was trying to do, I just think it needed more work. The romance between Ella and Ben plus Ellaѓ??s amazing commitment to her family, Ben and finally herself was my favourite part. The sexual tension pretty great. Oh and the dogs, seriously, the characters love of dogs is bloody great, I laughed out loud quite a few times at the way they talked to the dogs. I also wonder if the author has a ѓ??Willowѓ?ќ in her life.

If you are after a romance that is sweet, cute, incredibly relevant, well researched and touching, this could be for you.

I'm not really sure how to rate this. I'm not the target audience and because its about such a serious subject matter i feel like i shouldn't judge it to harshly.
The writing is quite simple and I don't think it delved very deeply, it kind of just brushed the surface of anorexia, bulimia, loss and grief.

I don't think that any book I've ever read has caused me to reflect on society and my views and actions quite as much as this. It has made me look so damn hard at myself, my life and events that I usually keep under lock and key, it's made me uncomfortable, angry and a little bit sad. Because rape, bullying and blaming the victim doesn't just happen in books, it happens every fucking day. Maybe I'm just really negative but I feel like it is ingrained in society. It's easier to blame the victim so let's do that. If that person didn't want to have sex, they shouldn't have worn that outfit, if they didn't want to be hit on and groped they should never have let someone buy them a drink. What happened to make people think like this? Why the fuck do I hear "teach girls how to avoid putting themselves in danger and keep themselves safe"? You can do everything right, but it doesn't mean shit, because it still happens. You can say no, you can kick, you can scream, but at the end of the day you shouldn't have to. Because NO means NO, it means you aren't giving consent. it's one of the first words we learn as children, but at the end of the day it means nothing, because someone puts there needs before yours and has decided you don't mean as much as them.

This isn't a book that I can say I enjoyed reading, because I didn't, it hurt, but I think it's a book that should be read, because it isn't pretty and it makes you think. It doesn't wrap up all the horrible things neatly in a pretty bow and say "it's all okay now", it shows the subject matter for what it really is, ugly! And no, things aren't always ok in the end. It needs to be spoken about, in halls, at work, and with our kids. The shame needs to be taken away. People need to be held accountable.
