The tension was high from the first page.
The vampires were ugly, vicious and terrifying which is exactly what I was after.
The book seemed to slow down over the last quarter but overall a fun read that made all the bumps in the night seem a whole heap loader.
I think ill watch the tv show so I can compare them.

A low 3 stars

I loved the world. There was a major tear in dimensions and demons made their way through, with a zombie and vamp virus as well. After 30 years the world has gotten to a new normal. They donѓ??t just have police any more, officers also walk the beat chasing down demons. Vamps are mostly docile, people have magic and going outside at night is asking to be possessed.
There was a lot of world building to set up the rest of the series and I think the plot line may have suffered a little as a result. We were repetitively told about magic and types of demons, but the actual action was rushed. The characters seemed to just miraculously get it done. We are quickly introduced to a lot of people and they seemed to just be in there because to set up their spot in the next book.
Iѓ??m still not sure what I think of Ella, our mc. She attracts the powerful men and everything just works out for her, as everyone does whatever she wants. Possible spoilers ahead ѓ?? She talks constantly about her lack of magic, so itѓ??s really obvious that she is going to have lots of power hiding away. It probably wouldnѓ??t have irritated me, except for how often itѓ??s mentioned. She is constantly asking people for things, she has no problems crossing the line into personal subjects or asking friends to do things that they are clearly uncomfortable with. Iѓ??m just not sold on her yet, maybe in book 2 Iѓ??ll warm up to her a little, but for now we are frosty.
The side characters, Ellaѓ??s fan club, all seem to have really interesting back stories, so Iѓ??m looking forward to seeing where they head in book 2. I feel like we got to know them more than Ella. They were a lot easier to like.
My biggest issue with the book was the repetitive paragraphs. We had arch demons explained twice in great detail, only to be explained just as much a couple of pages later. Repetitive phrases, throughout. I get that the dogs eyes flared a different colour, but you donѓ??t need to say it ten times. These things pull me out of the story, which is never a good thing.
All in all, an interesting world with exciting magic. A quick read and an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.

Everything about this screamed Black Mirror. Iѓ??ve only watched one season, but it felt like this was very much inspired by the questions asked in the show and the style. The writing was good and there were a couple of stand out stories. The prison story was my favourite, it was so messed up and well put together. In theory the way of punishing criminals could almost sound like a good idea, but I think like a lot of these stories, it shows how easy it is to forget that the virtual reality is actually messing with someoneѓ??s mind. Yes the body is fine as itѓ??s not real, but it is very real to the mind.
Some of the stories did blend together and a couple werenѓ??t my cup of tea, but I think that a lot of people will really enjoy the book. Iѓ??m slowly working my way into the sci-fi genre, but this was a little to far in for me. It has had some great reviews, so make sure to check those out.

Who would have thought that a contemporary romance was exactly what I needed right now. Not any contemporary romance though; Just this book. Broken has everything I enjoy in a romance. Plus it was about musicians. Helloѓ?Э. Sasha Marshallѓ?Э. Thank you for writing my ultimate wish fulfilment book. Itѓ??s like she dipped into younger Maxineѓ??s brain and took out all my favourite things.

Henley Hendrix is a rock goddess, women want to be her and men want to fuck her. She is slaying the music scene with her band Abandoned Shadow. She rose to fame as a guitar prodigy and while she came from music royalty, she has earned her position. Along with best friend Caleb she has been touring since she was 16. She is close with her family and friends and headlines tours with her brothers band, Broken Access.
Everything changes one night when Caleb and Henley are in a horrific car accident. For four years she hides from the world until her brother, Koi, and his band mates Jagger, Kip and Cam ask her to be their photographer on tour and she goes back on the road. Not quite herself, but more so than in a long while.

Maybe its because I always wanted to be a rock star (Iѓ??ve never even tried to play an instrument though haha) but this book had me completely sucked in from the first page. The fact that itѓ??s Henleyѓ??s story and not one of the boys just pulled me in even more. This book wrapped itѓ??s pages around my heart. I laughed my arse off, I cried buckets full of tears and I couldnѓ??t get enough. I have been fangirling over this book for the last 24 hours. As soon as I finished it, I jumped onto Amazon to grab the rest of the seriesѓ?Э If you guessed that I canѓ??t get them as they havenѓ??t been rereleased yet, you are right. Fucking devastated.

This does follow a similar formula to a lot of other romance books, but it still had me engaged. The writing and the detail to the music lifestyle was awesome. The use of social media articles was fantastic and really showed just how fucked up the media can be, how people lie and use just to get a story. When tragedy happens a lot of media outlets forget about the people involved they want people watching, they will show a smashed up car and people grieving just to try to get viewers. Just because a person is famous apparently it means they donѓ??t get any privacy, they arenѓ??t allowed to be people.

Henley as a main character was a breath of fresh air. How fantastic is it to have a female character completely comfortable with her body, a woman who is comfortable having sex with whomever she wants, whenever she wants. Completely unapologetic. It is so fucking refreshing to have an author break the ѓ??guy is super experienced, yet the girl is a virgin, or has only slept with one personѓ?ќ trope. So refreshing. She is just a decent chick who happens to take no prisoners. She has always had a temper and hated when she was told itѓ??s a boy thing. She can do it to and so she does.

The romanceѓ?Э Oh the sweet romance. And the sexy timesѓ?Э Hell Yes to the well written sexy times.

If you are a lover of contemporary romance, you need to get your butt into gear and read this book. 1. because itѓ??s awesome and you will love it, and 2. So we can swoon together and fangirl and talk about how excited we are for the rest of the books.

One more thing. This book has the most beautiful dedication, which I feel like might be a reason the book is able to capture so much real and raw emotion. Make sure you donѓ??t skip over it.

ѓ??Iѓ??m not a man,ѓ?ќ said Tarrik. ѓ??And mercy is for the weak.ѓ?ќ

When Tarrik is pulled from his exile, into the human world, he is shocked. He is a higher level demon, he hasnѓ??t seen this world in hundreds of years. Who would even know his name, let alone be strong enough to bind him?
Serenity ѓ??Renѓ?ќ Branwen is desperate. On the run from those who wish her harm, she calls Tarrik, she binds him to her will and uses him to set her plans in motion. She is a member of the Nine, hellbent on releasing Samal from his prison. She is cold and ruthless and orders him to kill.

In a world of sorcerers and magic, demons are treated like slaves. They are dragged into this world to do sorcerers bidding. Sometimes they are experimented on, sometimes they are let loose on the world. Demons are complex, they feel everything stronger than a human could. Whether it be anger or lust, their passionate natures make them seem like they have no self-control. But when it comes to higher level demons, like Tarrik, they are masters of self control. They just might not always use it.

Shadow of the Exile (Book 1 Of the Infernal Guardian series) had an awesome old school fantasy feel to it. Tarrik and Ren travelled the world, gathering relics and scheming. Making sure everything is in order for the release of Samal. They run into trouble wherever they go and have to rely on each other to get out of some very sticky situations; From mad sorcerers to demons, itѓ??s chaos.

Tarrik is a complex, endearing, ruthless, scheming character. I loved him. I think he was written really well and his displays of emotion contrasted with Renѓ??s cold, business like manner really well. He showed a lot more ѓ??humanityѓ?ќ than 90% of the actual humans in the book and it turns your concept of the term demon on its head.

The world was intriguing; Because of the way Ren travelled we got to see glimpses of many places. While it didnѓ??t go deep into each place we did get a sense of how oppressed the people were by their rulers and governments. It was interesting seeing it from Tarriks viewpoint. He was often disgusted with the behaviour of humans and his thoughts on things were often much more reasonable than those he was judging.

ѓ??Ideas are everywhere,ѓ?ќ he said. ѓ??To imprison someone for history and ideas would mean imprisoning all.ѓ?ќ

The writing itself was good, there were a few phrases that were repeated a lot or bits of information that we kept getting given, but other than that it was a solid, fast paced read. The world has so much more room to be explored.

My first m/m romance, this was a quick, easy read. Beyond Meridian is under 100 pages, but it is crammed full of action, adventure, romance and sexy time.

Karl needs a ride into enemy territory, word has it that Captain Raine is his best bet. Captain Raine knows that Karl isnѓ??t telling him the whole truth, but he canѓ??t turn down the money. Together they run illegal goods, battle space pirates and their feelings for each other all while trying to save the person who Karl owes his life to.

Raine had a total Han Solo feel to him, he was gruff and handsome. Karl was sweet, endearing. You know exactly how the plot will play out, but it was well written and fun so you donѓ??t mind. By having it set in space, it makes it even more fun. The planets, the different people and the ongoing war are all in the background of the story, there is a lot of room for more books in this universe, even longer fleshed out ones if the author chose to go that route.
This is a re-release and the first in a series, so Iѓ??m assuming the next two will also be re-released as well.

I liked it, don't let the 2stars fool you. I just felt like the book was rushed and in the process of trying to get to the end the mc seemed to behave in ways that didn't seem real. We are told she is the best in her field, she is a total arse kicker, yet she almost dies several times and it's not until she is almost beaten to death that she pulls some skills out her arse and gets on with it. Also when talking to the parents of the possessed girl, she has the wool pulled over her eyes so completely, it's hard to believe.
The supporting cast were incredibly 2 dimensional and didn't really bring a lot to the table. I'm hoping that they are a little more fleshed out in the next book. I'm not sure what James sees in Stephanie, she just seems like a self righteous bitch with no redeeming qualities. I guess having a dr in the book is handy though.

I haven't really read anything like this, and I'm really enjoying the idea, so I hope the next books get better.
