I can't rate this, that these things ever happened to him and others breaks my heart and makes me furious. How the hell does this occur? I've heard people say "it's just the way it was" well I say bullshit. If that was the case you wouldn't have hidden it and made children keep these secrets. They knew it was wrong but they didn't care about these children.
Ryszard is an incredibly strong human.

Well that was pretty disappointing. Seriously what is with the shitty dialogue, I think she is confusing bikers with apes. It's all grunting and terrible sentences, that are really hard to read.
I liked Shy in the other books, but he is a total arse. It seems that a tragic back story is an ok excuse for being an arrogant, overbearing wanker, but I feel like I need to say No, No it isn't. Being able to give a chic an orgasm doesn't make it OK to be a prick.
Some days I can read books like this and I'm ok with that direction, but the plot wasn't good enough to carry the irritating things and entertain me.
I liked being in the world again. I must get to the rock chick series.

I won this through Goodreads First Reads.
This tells the story of two enemies stranded on an island together, with no real hope of being found. Theo is a fighter pilot from Rave, she is an orphan who was conscripted into the army at twelve, she has had a very hard life and is a survivor. Galian is third in line for the Kylean throne. He isn't interested on the throne or the 50 year war with Rave. He is sheltered and naive. They have to learn to rely on each other and trust each other if they are going to have any hope for surviving.
It's an ok book, hampered by really short narrative swaps. It's told from both characters perspective, but they are so short, it's hard to get into the story or go with the flow. The plot itself is quite simple and that isn't a bad thing, I just wasn't overly entertained. I think the writing fell short. The world building wasn't great and it was predictable, but if it was well written and entertaining, that probably wouldn't have been such a problem.
It's a quick read.

This series is epic. This book is amazing. This is my third read (I'm determined to complete the series this time) and I get something new from it each read.
Also full points to the author because there are NO info dumps, which is just impressive.

Seriously wtf??
The world building in this series is so bad. The character development is non existent.... Stephen... Wouldn't it be nice to know what is going on with him, but we never find out, it seems like the author was aiming for mysterious and failed miserably. The passage of time between the books in the series is stupid, yes at the end of the third book let's have them heading of to exile because no one could know about the pregnancy and then in this novella they haven't left and Gemma is giving birth. The plot holes were never ending.
I'm so annoyed I continued with this series after the second one. I should have stopped made up my own story and it would have been better than this. I have no idea how this series got so many decent reviews.
I could keep going about all the he things that irked me, but I won't. Just don't do it to yourself.

I've kept going hoping that this series will get better and it's just not happening.
This was ok, no real world building to speak of but it gave you a good understanding of Phoenix.
