So, I'm not good at reviews but I'm going to try and keep this coherent and spoiler free.

I would give this book around 3.5 to 4 stars. It didn't win me over as soon as I started it, and I think (but I'm not a native English speaker so I'm not sure) that there were some errant grammar mistakes. HOWEVER, this book completely changed my first impression as I read on. The characters were sympathetic (especially Dan, I want to hug him and bake him some cookies and hug him some more) and soon enough I found my self fist-pumping the air when something good happened to them (Spoiler-y: like with Zach, you go Zach, I'm so glad that you got your girl) and by the end of the book I was even kinda fond of Jim (my default setting when it comes to main characters is to dislike and mistrust them completely so this is not something that easily happens.) The plot was well-paced and the world interesting to explore. All in all a pleasant book, great as a series starter. I am really looking forward to reading the second one!
