Recieved as a Christmas present and read alongside Fire and Blood (which I loved). While this doesn't add much more to the Targarean's narrative than i got from the latter book, it is still worth it for the ABSOUTELY beautiful illustrations inside.

I genuinely didn't expect to enjoy this half as much as I did. So pleasantly surprised!!! Although a lot of people are put off by the textbook format of this book, as someone who loved history for fourteen years at school, I actually really liked Martin's choice to write Fire and Blood the way he did. The idea of presenting the story of House Targarean through the perspective of several completely untrustworthy points of view was genius!! And an excellent nod to the bias which is engrained in the recording of so much real history.

As with any of the book in A Song of Ice and Fire, George R.R Martin's penchant for world building and attention to detail blows my mind!! I love the echoes of real medieval history and how it is blended so seamlessly with fantasy.

I also really enjoyed comparing the events leading up to The Dance of the Dragons recorded by Septon Eustace and Mushroom with the new show House of the Dragon. It all comes together just so damn well!!! What a way to start the new year!!

Interesting. But I think I've had my fill of the Mitford sisters for  the time being.

This one was great! While I didn't love it as much as books one or three, I did enjoy it more than book 2.

Had a great time reading chapters from Jamie, Sam and Brienne's POV. Love all three of them (for wildly different reasons obviously haha). I found the Cersie chapters absolutely hilarious most of the time. She is truly UNHINGED

As always the world building in these is insanely detailed. George R.R Martin's world is an incredible place to reenter every time you start a new book. Can't wait to read more :)
