This story was interesting.
The world was fascinating with the different social classes and how it was two different universes in one. I also really liked the mysterious traveler Sid and her relationship with Nirrim. Nirrim and Sid were characters that both had a lot of layers and liked their dynamic. I would've loved Sid's POV. A lot of secrets to unpack in this book it was entertaining and fun.
The ending caught me by surprise. I liked it a lot.

I knew I would like this book.
These boys.. I loved getting to know these characters. I also really liked the paranormal aspect of the book and that the magic subtle and contained. Blue and her family of psychics and her relationship with the boys was really great to see. I'm excited to see where this series goes.
I really like this cast of characters and I just want them all to be ok (which probably won't happen).

This is how history should be taught.
This not history book contains all the content standard history books are missing. It gives the reader a way to understand the problem that is racism in a way that is engaging and fun. This book was fun to read. This book gives hope. Racism is still a huge problem today, as the book details, history likes to repeat itself. However, the book goes to give examples and details, with sources, that show prominent antiracists and their journeys to becoming antiracist. Essentially anyone can become antiracist. The first step is to learn the history of racism and this book is the perfect guide.
The tone of the book stays light even when covering some pretty brutal racists and doesn't mince around slavery and the civil rights movement. The book also shows black women playing key roles in the movement. Some of which, history classes most definitely never talked about.
This book allows the reader to digest, pause, and reflect and learn what antiracism is really all about.

I found this book hilarious.
I loved Del's tone and his voice. The writing just flowed so well. The story follows Del as he makes some very questionable decisions when he accidentally joins a church group that vows to not have sex before marriage. This book called out toxic masculinity in a way that wasn't preachy and gave amazing examples of the different standards held between men and women in society. All the characters were layered and interesting and I loved not knowing all their motives because of Del's skewed POV. It made the story more compelling.
It was a highly entertaining, insightful, and great read.

This was one of my most anticipated books of 2020.
The first half of the book was really good. Sofia is a strong character. We know her hopes and dreams and the lengths she will go for her happiness and its wonderful. As the book moves into the latter half the pacing just starts to feel off and then everything seems to get handed to Sofia on a silver platter. The twists just didn't have that wow factor.
Sofia is a fav though, she's a well rounded, lovable, fierce character

This book was kind of long...
I really enjoyed the first half of the book. Jolene was a great character from the start and Adam really grew on me as the book progressed. In the second half, Abigail Johnson did a really good job of setting the "creepy vibes" tone.. and that's also when I stopped being a fan. I kept getting annoyed there wasn't one good role model in this book. That may have been the point the author was trying to make, not having a fixer character to call everyone out. For me, that made the story overly chaotic, kind of extra, and longer than the book needed to be.
I will say, Die Hard is a great Christmas movie, something Jolene and I can agree on.

This is a 100 page fluff novel that's just plain wonderful.
I love the Simonverse and I really hope there's more from these characters in the future, no matter how distant.
Also, all the proceeds of this novella went to the LGBTQ+ community, so I have no choice but to stan.

With every Rick Riordan book I read, I know I'm gonna laugh.
This was a great little glance back into Camp Jupiter as I patiently wait for the conclusion to Apollo's story.
I'm just a huge fan. I'll read anything Rick Riordan writes.

The cover of this book is so beautiful.
I love how real this book gets about what the BIPOC population goes through. I also enjoyed all the black hair love. I'm usually a fan of alternate POV characters but, in this book, I felt like Tavia and Effie didn't have room to grow because of the constant back and forth.
I think the author only scratched the surface of what these characters could've been and where the story could've ended.

This book was so well done.
This book showed codependency in such a real and raw way and how it can be both uplifting and damaging to the couple. I loved how K. Ancrum incorporated mixed media to show just how unreliable the narrator is as the story progresses. The authors note in this book is beautiful and should be read by everyone.
This book made me emotional. It was wonderful.
