A rambling masterpiece. Reading this is like visiting a massive, dilapidated, haunted mansion. Enter with caution and watch your footing.

A Natural History of Dragons was really fun. This pseudo-memoir novel is set in an alternate universe version of Victorian England. Lady Isabella Trent, a celebrated scientist, decides at last to tell her life story: how her childhood interest in dragons blossomed into her later career as an explorer and naturalist. This book chronicles her first scientific exploration into the mountains of Vystrana with her husband and a small team of others, to study the local dragon species. Of course this task ends up being much more complicated that it seemed at first when local politics, a disappearance, a series of dragon attacks and an ancient curse come into play.

I need to say right up front that I am one of the contributing authors of this book, so therefore quite biased. I received my advance copy yesterday and sat down to read the whole book in less than 24 hours. It was DELIGHTFUL. A lovely balance of prose and comics, each story highlighting a different kind of love or relationship- some romantic, some platonic, some asexual, some that end, some that last forever. It's due out on Valentines day (2/14/2018) and I highly recommend you pick up a copy!
