I enjoy multi-dimensional, flawed and even unlikable characters. I realize I'm her target audience. This book moved me to tears. I read it in taxi cabs. For that reason, I'm giving 5 stars.
I agree with reviews below that didn't like Jodi Picoult writing about a black woman's experience-- but ultimately this is a work of fiction. Her author's note was needed.
