Casey Cox is one of my favorite MM authors and this book did not disappoint! It had a found family/friends circle that made me want to weep with longing, the main characters had amazing friendship and chemistry that kept the angst simmering, and Noah was an absolute sweetheart and Haze deserved everything in this world. Tate was a spitfire and I want a bestie like Tate. I think this series is hoing to be one of my absolute favourites!!

There will always be that one book book that will sneak attack you with all feelings while you are reading a bunch of others. This was one such book. This book had so much representation of love that it was impossible not to fall in live with it too. It follows Julián as he accidentally outs himself through twitter one night and has to deal with the aftermath of a reckless mistake. It talks about a lot of triggering topics and deals with it in a really positive way.

Jules was amazing and when paired with Mat, they were amazing. I was skeptical at first, but their chemistry was so good and the way they were there for each other was really well done. This book had amazing found family/friends guy, Jules had an amazing support system when everything goes down amd that warmed my heart a lot! Not to mention Mat who never failed to make Jules smile. Jules sister was a force to reckon with and not to mention all the support he gets. He is proud of his chicanx culture and the the author used the language a lot and I really got a full experience (Duolingo helped me guys..) And I definitely got hungry after all the vegetarian food options discussed in very explicit detail.
.
Now, everything is not sunshine in this book. Jules go through a lot of emotional and physical abuse through his dad, and that makes his character development a really strong one. He learned to rely on others and forgive himself for all the blame, slurs and the confidence he lacked. It was amazing to see his confidence come back and the way he opened his heart to let people help him so that he can heal. I hurt when Jules cried over his lost family and that last chapter and that letter? Broke my heart. The author explores the Latinx community and the prejudice they have living in their home, and the rich culture they follow. It wasn't hard to love all the family and the characters.
.
This was a coming of age story filled with love, relationship, longing, food, laughter, recklessness, hope and healing. This will definitely make you feel things. Go read it pretty please?

The Jade Bones is the sequel to The Seventh Sun and follows our main characters, Mayana who has to make a difficult choice at the end, Prince Ahkin who has to learn to trust someone other than himself, Yemania who has to learn the difference between need and want, and Ochix who has to make sure wrath doesn't come down to destroy them all. It's a story about learning to adapt, trusting your enemies and a journey to overcome your known life for an unknown.
.
First, I really liked the pov of Yemania and seeing her grow as a character gave me so much satisfaction. Ochix was a sweetheart diguised as a morally gray character, (but seriously he was a cinnamon roll). They were the chapters I was really looking forward to reading and they did not disappoint. The other characters and the way this plot was taken was something I expected but didn't expect at the same time.
.
Coming to the plot and character development, I think there were certain things that made me really happy and scenes that made me smack my head for it's stubbornness. To be honest, I almost DNF'd the book twice within the first half of the book. But my curiosity won me over and I continued reading it. Mayana and Ahkin weren't utilized to their full character extent and I didn't really care for their adventure in the underworld? I don't know why, but it felt forced and the development was okay. Meanwhile, I really liked how Yemania grew as a character, and then she had to go have an instant connection with the enemy. I really didn't like that character development for the Healer. Coatl and Metzi has my absolute hate and I really can't wait how the story ends after that particular cliffhanger!! (Although that dramatic entry after a never ending gruesome adventure was funny to read about! ).

"Sometimes there are moments that define a human for the rest of their lives,” she continued thoughtfully. “This was one such moment for you. You took the loss of those lives onto your shoulders, blamed yourself for not being able to save them."
.
"What is the point of life, then, if how we die is all that matters? To me, that cheapens life more than it respects death. And wouldn’t you be trying to control your own fate by controlling how you die, the way we control how we live with the rituals?"
.
"We respect death and honor it, yes, but that does not mean we do not also value life."
.
"His mistakes, his inability to handle his responsibilities. Everything came back to him. His shoulders that hadn’t been strong enough to hold the burden of his birthright. The shame burned far worse than the flame of any fire ."
.
"Sometimes your greatest fears dissolve when you’re called on to save someone you love."

"The world is a terrifying place. Cruel. Unforgiving. But I was a great emperor because I learned I did not have to do it alone. I had a council of those I trusted. Advisors and delegates to help me make those decisions. You should know that yourself as a soldier. You can face the fiercest battles not because you aren’t afraid, but because your brothers are by your side. They give you the courage to charge. But more than that, I felt whole in myself because I had found my true duality, and we ruled the empire together."

So, The Duke Heist is a story about a band of misfits who are trying to aquire back a treasured possession that was taken from them, while trying to not be obvious about it. It's a story about finding what you deem important, found family love and some amazing banter that will last you a while!

It's been ages since I read any YA mystery fiction books. The last time I read one, I hated it, so I stayed away from them for a while. I received a copy of RotS from @netgalley and I'm so glad I read it. Surprisingly, this has made me realize why I love mysteries so much!

Of Wicked Blood follows our two main characters : Slate, who has had a difficult childhood, amd discovers the world of magic accidentally and hates being in it, and , Cadence, a history enthusiastic thrust into the same magic world because of her history. This book focuses on found family, dealing with rash decisions, betrayals and lots of 'what is happening' moments. It has a lot of swearing guys. So brace yourselves.
.
First, OMG Slate was an absolute wreck, swore a lot and just didn't care for anything in general and I loved him for it. Cadence was a really strong character with small quirks that made me smile. Their banter was something I absolutely adored and loved reading about. Alma was another favourite of mine and I can't stop smiling at her outward and spirited personality!
.
Second, I really liked the world building and the progression of the story. The concept of a town build and breathing a magic lore which was true, was a really intruiging one. Even though not a lot of explaination was goven as to how the history came to be, I really liked what was shown to us. The friendship between Cadence and Alma was amazing and I wish we had more chapters with Bastian because he was such a sweetheart. The side Characters played a very important in the story as much as the main characters and I think that's why I liked that ending. It was more like a gang coming together to fight for something even when they didn't want to. I have no opinions on Adrian so far and want Cadence to become a badass Character without Slate.
.
Coming to the story and character development, I think the story has so much to deliver and develop, so I'm really looking forward to the next book. For the Characters, I think Bastian amd Alma were my favourites. Hands down. I also enjoyed the bonding moments shared within the Characters. I hated Papa De Morel with a vengeance and I have a few theories on what might have happened. Let's see how that turns out. The only thing I hated was the references to a certain book that must not be named and the comparison between characters. I think I lost my patience when Slate kept calling Cadence Bellatrix. I mean get that the authors were trying to prove a character trait with that, but I was extremely uncomfortable and didn't like that inclusion one bit. I really hope they remove them before it gets published. I still am trying to not be biased and rate the story, but it definitely affected my rating now.
.
Overall, I think it was a solid start to a series and I'm looking forward to the next installment!

When I first picked this book up, I wasn't interested after reading the first chapter. The fae/human, mind controls and glamour sounded too familiar and I thought I wouldn't like the book. So I put this down. Because of the tour stop, I picked it up again at a later date. And I'm scolding myself for not reading it sooner.
