Amazing up until the last part. I would have liked effort put into the ending because this one was very lazily done, not to mention unrealistic.
There is no way to get everything back in order in two measly weeks.

All that being said, I loved the characters, even though they were extremely frustrating and made the stupidest choices, but even their stupidity was understandable and so, so human.

The writing was very simple and easy to digest, which made for a quick read, but there were some nuggets of wisdom in there that gave me some food for thought.

A really thrilling premise with heaps of potential, but the execution fell a little short. The writing was a bit disjointed and, at times, made it difficult to nagivate in the timeline of the story. What's presented in this book gives you a lot to think about and I liked that the author didn't really insert her own views here. Instead, she shows the reader both pros and cons of the society depicted and lets you reach your own conclusions.

Also, good job writing the most infuriating characters ever.

I understand why it became a children's classic at the time, but to be honest, it's quite underwhelming and the writing just isn't that good.

What a book. I loved this from beginning to end. It's such an emotional, yet heartwarming story. I loved both POVs. Eloise's story broke my heart and had me in tears throughout. The writing was simply beautiful.

The only criticism I have – and it's nowhere near enough for me to lower the rating – is that I wanted some sort of acknowledgement as to how shitty Valentina's father was because there is no way anyone would be nonchalant if they went through what Valentina did.
