This might be the most boring book I've ever had the displeasure to read. Literally nothing happens in this book and I feel like I'm wasting my time. This book tries too hard and it's just so one-dimensional. Nothing in there to grip me and keep my interest going.

I was just not having a good time with this book, which is disappointing after Wrong Place Wrong Time. Might be just me or where my mind is at right now, but the writing was really confusing me. The sentences and paragraphs felt fragmented and clumsily put together. I constantly had to reread to make sense of what was going on. Using a ton of commas does not necessarily elevate your prose. And once again, she uses 'jaded' to describe the characters. There are other words, babes. Speaking of characters, I felt like she tried too hard to make Julia seem like a good person. It was just an overload of her telling the reader how moral and uncorrupted she is, but simply telling it isn't enough. At least space out the praise and don't dump it on me all at once.

One thing I did like is that she didn't drag the mystery of Genevieve to the end, but it was not enough to turn this around for me.

The premise is intriguing, but I feel like this book is an unpolished idea more than a story. It's disjointed and superficial. You're given no time to settle into it before you're thrown into another, seemingly unrelated POV. I loved the female rage aspect of it, but everything else was just incredibly tedious and disappointing.

Terribly boring and seemingly aimless. Nothing seems to happen in this book. Feels like a waste of time and potential.

Based on the description, I should have loved this book. I tried to give it a fair chance, but it just felt like a chore to pick up with no indication of improvement.

The story is told in two POVs, one of which includes two timelines. I really liked Shannon's POV because it gave me some vague idea of what was happening, whereas Olivia's POV felt sluggish, repetitive and incredibly lackluster. The relationship between Olivia and her wife seemed superficial to the point of not being believable.

Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC.

Simply delightful.

This entire series is such a hidden gem.

Throughout the series, all the characters have such distinct voices and I'm amazed that Elison has pulled it off. It cannot be easy to do. That being said, I think this was my least favourite of the three, simply because reading this felt like being thrown around from place to place and from gender issue to gender issue. You get a taste in the second book, but it's so full on in this one. Don't get me wrong - it was done extremely well and this book offers so much to discuss and think about, but it left me exhusted and in an existential crisis.
