15 year old Christopher Boone is out walking one night when he finds his neighbor's dog, Wellington, dead. Killed with a gardening fork. The event spurs Christopher to investigate, who killed Wellington and why? The answers he finds might be more than he can handle.

Having worked with autistic classmates in high school I felt that Mark Haddon did an excellent job with Christopher. The way he talked, the jumps of logic he made reminded me a lot of those classmates.

The chapters are very short and numbered using primes, there are also several illustrations, graphs and such which really helps draw you in, it feels like Christopher is real and that this is him writing.

The plot, and especially the ending, is very abrupt. This actually fits in well with the characterization and for many will be part of the charm. But if you are looking for fluidity in a story it might frustrate you.
