If you like pumpkins, gourds and squashes, this is a very fun book to read! 

Love these anthologies. 

Its quite a hard read because a) eugenics and b) there are lots of concepts and arguments introduced that you kind to keep in mind. That said it is very worthwhile to read and to confront how racist science (& therefore society) is.

Diverse selection of poets represented and discussion in the introduction of the shameful legacy in botanythat colonialism had. 

If you like insights into local history and women's lives, this is a kind of quirky book that reveals lots about rural life.

Even though the pace was slow for me, its no bad thibg. This is definitely a book to take your time with. I read it after reading about black feminist archaeology by Whitney Battle-Baptiste and it really compliments that work. In all honesty, i need to read it multiple times to take it all in. 

Great set of writings where Jolly reflects on her life conserving lemurs in Madagascar. Lots of detail on politics, which is really interesting and helps you understand issues facing the country.

Loved this. Great antidote to gardening memoirs written by white people. 

Really important novel about refugee experience. LGBT romance, included which is not often blurbed about.
