When I first picked up this book, I must admit that I wasn't very excited to read it. But after reading it I wholeheartedly agree with this being the Barnes and Noble YA Book Club book! I absolutely adored this book! I couldn't put it down! Speaking of not being able to put it down, anyone know when the next book will be out?
All the characters in this book serve a purpose and I love them all so much, I can't decide who my favorite character is! Frances is phenomenally realistic, Maxine is hilariously vulnerable, Lena is righteously bitter, and Finn is well, Finn's Finn.
Smith did a fantastic job of conveying Frances's emotions to the readers, I felt just as angry with Haxahaven Academy as Frances did. I also felt her horror at being able to manipulate bodies but just like her, I wanted to see/read it happen again.
Sasha Smith spins a stunning tale of grief, finding family, and (of course) magic. Her characters are wonderfully thought out and with the plot twist at the end, I can't wait to read what she does next!
Lots of love!

I had very high expectations for this book, not only because I had heard so many good thing about it, but also because I absolutely loved A Curse So Dark and Lonely. I am very pleased to say that Defy the Night exceeded my expectations in every way possible! The character are stunningly developed, the plot is intricately weaved, and the cover is gorgeous!
I was taken on a roller coaster of emotions: I cried, laughed, sat on the edge of my seat, you name it. I am so happy that I was sucked into this world, and I can't wait to jump back in for the sequel.
Tessa and Corrick's relationship is so spectacularly done, I have no words. It is forgiving, honest, and each person is held accountable for their mistakes. Tessa is a strong young woman that I would kill to be friends with and Corrick is a haunted young man who I would strongly suggest taking a spa day. Both characters come together in such a well written way, and while they depend on each other, they are strong by themselves as well.
I just loved this book so much and I wish I had the next book with me right now. If you haven't already, I highly suggest reading it immediately. Brigid Kemmerer once again blew me away with her world building, dynamic characters, and driven plot. I can't wait to see what she does next!

Finally finished! When I first picked up this book I wasn't too excited but once I started reading it I was so mad when I had to stop at the assigned place! I loved all the characters and as much as I want a sequel I think that this story is perfect for a standalone. Normally I'm not a fan of school-assigned reading but I loved this book!
I’ve only recently gotten into poetry but this book was so good!!
I love Misha Collins as an actor and I love him as a writer now too!!
“You said last night,/‘What does it mean?/That you love me?’/And I’m not really sure./All I know/Is that without you/I am lost.”
All the poems show a gorgeous arc and flow very well, I highly recommend checking this book out if you haven’t already!!
