This was a lot cuter than I anticipated, and I ended up enjoying it a lot. Very wholesome, and well-paced. The character development was pretty good as well. A solid read over all.

As a Southerner who spends way too much time reading Southern Gothic/Southern folklore fodder, I was obsessed with this series. I think this opening volume isn't my favorite, but it certainly paved the way for the rest of the series to take over my brain for the foreseeable future. The art is fantastic through most of it, and I found the story to be pretty original and refreshingly Southern. The dialogue could get a bit boxy, but honestly it just felt like I was reading something I would hear my father say.

I really loved this novel! I thought the characters were funny and likable, art was beautiful, the story was too relatable actually. Probably one of my favorite graphic novels I’ve read this year.

I ended up enjoying this so much more than I thought I would. The characters were really great, and I loved the Queer inclusion (which was a surprise). Just a really fun zombie story that doesn’t get bogged down by the zombies or the drama in the way other zombie books seem to do. Can’t wait to read the sequel!
