This is one of those books that I hesitate to recommend, simply because I love it so much, which is kind of a twisted thing to say. Honestly, I just think it's rather brilliant, and really pushes the boundaries of what literature can be. I'm also obsessed with Vizenor's labeling of it as a living text, and the ideas that brings to the table with post-modern literature in general. It's not something that's easy to read by any means, but I think about it often.
I really love what I refer to as "YA Scream Queen Reads", and this one is no exception. The atmosphere was really powerful, and the visuals surrounding the pregnancy and the ghost baby are just fantastic. Slightly predictable in places, but I was obsessed with this story and couldn't put it down. Probably one of my favorite reads this year!
Every time I pick up one of Katie Alender's books I'm surprised by how much I like them. You'd think by this point I would just expect it, but I like being surprised. While this isn't my favorite book of her's so far, it was still a lot of fun and I enjoyed seeing the mystery pan out. I look forward to reading other books by her!
This volume was very fun. I love getting to see The Abandoned, and the goblins (especially Priscilla), and the storyline was just good old-fashioned you get what you deserve. Really enjoyed it!
Not my favorite reinterpretation of Snow White, but still interesting and visually good I've seen a lot of discourse for this being a Tomie origin story, but I'm not sure how much I buy into that theory.
This twist was something I didn't quite see coming. The pacing was very good and the art was pretty as well. One of the better shorts I've read lately.
I enjoy the Odyssey overall as a story, but I don't necessarily think reading it straight is the best way to read it, especially for the first time. It's one of those stories that's better to me when done visually, or through more unique story telling methods. It's an oral history after all.
This story is creepy, but not well paced. I don't really like horror stories that involve kids because they either get hurt or they're annoying like in this story. Probably one of the least memorable stories to me.
I loved the inclusion of Hedge Witchcraft in this volume! It's really started creating a more complicated storyline that draws readers in. I'm really loving this series a lot.
Mostly just okay, and not very memorable. Art is lovely as always but I feel like this one is more forgettable.
