You Can Do All Things: Drawings, Affirmations and Mindfulness to Help with Anxiety and Depression
I’ve followed Kate Allen’s art pages for a long time. This book was a warm fuzzy feeling and a bowl of comfort food all in one go. I like that it’s easy to reference back to as a meditation practice, and of course I adore the illustrations. Loved it 100%!
I read this book as part of my research for a research paper discussing song analysis and social themes in music. It’s a very helpful reference discussing the song and Holiday’s social commentary in music and what it did for music and artists as a whole.
The art and presentation was very attractive, but I didn’t feel like this book provided much in the way of new or original ways of meditation or new ideas about it. Cute, but not altogether unique in its message.
I wanted to like this book, because the concept sounded very interesting. However, the actual execution left something to be desired. It seemed disjointed, more so than magical realism stories tend to be. It was pretty hard to follow, and not altogether that interesting. I just never connected with the characters or really cared about what was happening.
A cute aside in the series. I liked the look into Mary’s past, and the story was pretty entertaining. It’s a good one shot to read of listen to in an afternoon.
This whole storyline with Sango is really interesting. I like having more lore about her weapon and seeing her in a lead role in the story. I feel like I’m getting sick of everyone else.
I really prefer the short stories from the Grishaverse much better than the actual novels. I feel like there’s a lot more tension and atmosphere in them.
This was a very interesting story. I liked seeing Anya’s culture and her struggles adjusting in school and America, and I feel like it made it very believable for her to be haunted. It was a suspenseful read and a little spooky towards the end!
As an obsessive Dinotopia fan as a child this book was a real treat. It was such a nostalgia trip to go back into this world and enjoy it again.
Altogether a rather boring retelling. I wasn’t a big fan of either sister, and thought that the story really just dragged on without any real conflict or stakes.
