What a wild start! I really enjoyed this introduction to Hellboy and I'm looking forward to seeing where the story goes.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book! It was really funny and fast paced, and a lot of fun to read. I hope I enjoy the second book as much.
I think compared to the first book, I found this own much less entertaining. It wasn't as funny, and the characters were just frustrating or downright annoying. I also didn't like the way romance was introduced or the portrayal of female characters honestly. So I think I'll stop reading the series here.
This plot line is a bit annoying honestly and I'm ready to move on.
A great collection of essays. I enjoyed reading them and think it really helped frame the way race is portrayed in fantasy. The authors conceptualization of the dark fantastic was really intriguing and is something easily seen once she lays the groundwork for it.
A great ending to a great series. I'm so happy with were it was left off and with where Binti is. I absolutely love this series and I'm so glad to see it have such a good ending.
This was much more enjoyable than I expected. The characters were endearing, and I was swept up in the plot so easily. A real page turner!
It was a bit of a slow read but it didn't feel like it at all. I fell in love with Sabriel fairly quickly, and the world building was engaging. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
I liked it, but I also didn't love it. I read it as part of "How Long till Black Future Month?" and I feel like compared to the other stories in that collection it's hardly Jemisin's strongest piece. Interesting concept, but not really that memorable to me.
An enjoyable sequel to the original, but I felt like it was much slower than the first one. Altogether I enjoyed it, and liked seeing the character develop and have a happy ending. But the middle really seemed to drag.
