It was just bad. I could rant about it for hours at this point. Let's just say: if you hate the concept of throne of glass... Then you will hate this too. The book felt so useless... We are in her mind throughout the whole book and at the end she suddenly remembers something 'that she will never forget in her life' that makes the whole plot at this point obsolete. Aaaaagggh. Just so frustrating

It was just boring overall. 

The characters weren't flashed out, we didn't see them talking to each other at all and suddenly they are in love. He is mysterious, she is devoted too the sun. That's possibly all we know about them and all we get to see and all they think about. 

I couldn't root for them individually, even less for them as a couple, I just didn't feel anything, because we didn't get to see anything between the two. No laughter, no banter, no sharing their past. Everything was just told with visions and dreams and what not, but no actual interactions between the two!

Even the plot was just them doing things because somebody said it. Nothing was explained or talked about, just one scene after the other.

How does the magic work? What are the capabilities of the Shadowborn?

Why did the old king die? How often was Asar in the underworld before and why?

PLEASE give me some basic lore (and give Mische more than the same two thoughts)

Despite all of that, I finished the book, because I am hopeful, that the next books in the series are worth it and we get to see more of Asars thoughts and personality.

I'm a little sad, because I loved the other books in this world.
