Quickie Review (May contain spoilers, so fair warning upon reading this review)

So Avenged was a very interesting story. I enjoyed how it connected to the Breaking Point series. I haven't read much of the Saints of Denver so couldn't remember the connection there but I know from reading other reviews that there are connections there. I also really was intrigued by the Mackenzie connection and now I have another series to check out here haha but I am not complaining, Lillian Hart has been an author I have been curious about.

I found this novella to be quite interesting. It didn't really wow me if I am being honest. I just didn't really connect with the story like I wanted to. But I adored the serial connections and I enjoyed the aspects of these characters learning to accept each other and their pasts in such a beautiful way that did feel pretty fulfilling. So if you are fans of this author or these two series, I do recommend reading this one here.

Quickie Review (May contain spoilers, fair warning upon reading this review.)

Mr Sin was a delightful story and I did have a fun time with this one. The premise between them was interesting. I didn't really understand the angst that developed between these two though. It just didn't make sense to me. It kinda felt like the drama was used as a filler for the story. The spice was top notch and I enjoyed the relationship between the hero and his daughter. There is something precious about a single father of a little girl. Some of the writing in this one could have been better though. I just wasn't a fan of how preachy the author gets in this one for certain feminist politics. Just rubbed me the wrong way in how it was written and did ruin my enjoyment of the story at times. But if you don't mind books getting preachy at times, then I do recommend it to you, just wasn't my taste. Will check out her older books as those most likely aren't as political but also didn't have the touch of Nero or Dom in it either. But still a solid read that I easily got swept into.

First Impressions
War of Monsters is the fifth book in the "Fausti Family" series and this is where we continue the epic saga of Dante and Scarlett. In this one, they have recovered mostly from a mutual loss, they are delving into some family drama and they are brought into a family conflict and an enemy that they won't be ready for. They will go on a journey of self doubt, growth, healing and learning what it means to fight for each other as a couple. And that sometimes it takes risks and putting burdens on each other as a side effect.

First Line
The thought of a woman could rouse a man during the final countdown when he's a second away from losing.

What I Loved
There were many aspects that I enjoyed in this one. The atmosphere and world building in this book was (at no shock to me or anyone that has read this series) to be utterly captivating. We are taken to Italy and Sicily and man I just felt like I was there, there is something so captivating about this author and how she just builds a story that gives you the best feels. We get to return to Brando and Scarlett and I just loved returning to them again. The plot was so action packed, there was so much going on with this one here. So you definitely need to buckle your seat belts because this author really builds the tension and thrills in a way that you have never seen before. The heart and feels is so in tune with this pair. You just FEEL so much for this couple and what they have to face and overcome and its pretty rough at times that is for sure!

What I Struggled With
I mostly struggled with the pacing in this one. First this book is a CHUNKER at 700 pages so it takes a while to get through and I didn't do my due diligence on that one so that is why this has been taking a week to read because I have just been reading a little bit each day. Then we have the pacing was a bit slow at times and I just wish it had been more fast paced at times.

Overall View
I found my heart and soul in this book....the author will bring you into a story that you will NOT be ready for ....so be ready for a wild ride of thrills and emotion!

First Impressions
Respect is the finale in the "Breaking Point" series. This is where we get the story featuring the story with Karsen and Booker. I didn't have to wait on this book like others had to as I have yet to read "Better When He's Bold" but you can bet that is next on my list to read soon. I really wanted Booker's story though as I saw his connections to Naasir. I was beyond impressed with this one. If you love a more gritty contemporary, the look no further than this one. I do think you could read this as a standalone if you wanted to. Its written in a way where its definitely compatible in that way. I feel so deeply for these two and their forbidden love story....

First Line
Finally! It felt like I'd been waiting forever for my eighteenth birthday.

The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Booker
The Heroine: Karsen

Summary
Respect begins with our heroine fighting for the man she has been in love with but been waiting for her to mature and be of the legal age as he is a bit older than she is. But on her birthday she learns a painful lesson and her heart is bitterly broken and she leaves the point, the only place she has known as home and leaves for college in Colorado. But now she has graduated and is preparing to go home for her sister's wedding. What she doesn't expect is to have a stalker or to have the man she has loved and never stopped loving to come back into her life seeking redemption. Booker had no choice but to hurt Karsen, but now he is determined to win her no matter how forbidden or what the consequences may be...

What I Loved
So many aspects to this book just had me all over the place with this one. I had such a love for both characters. I really fell hard for Karsen's character. She is a mix of tough and sweet. She can handle herself on the streets, having grown up on the streets, but she has a sense of innocence and love to her character that I instantly gravitated towards. This is what Crownover is really talented at, in writing characters that are so loveable. Then we have Booker, who has had a rough life. He is tormented by his time in juvie and suffers aspects of PTSD still from it. Your heart breaks for these two. Even in the prologue, you just know that there is more going on than meets the eye but its painful to see what it does to their relationship. But when Booker fights for Karsen, its so deeply resonating and emotionally just connects with you because you see his struggle and pain but willing to RISK it all for her and for her to know the truth about what really happened.

What I Struggled With
Honest there wasn't anything specific I could even pinpoint that I struggled with. I loved the epilogue but I kinda want to know what happens with the kids----it kinda left us hanging. haha But if its in her other books---let me know!

Narration
HAUNTINGLY CAPTIVATING! That is the best words to describe how well this narration done. I just didn't want to put this audiobook down at ALL. I had such a blast with the blend of these narrators and how easily they pull you into these characters and make them just come alive.

Overall View
Respect is the finale in the Breaking Point and it packs a punch of resilience, healing, and connection and a beautiful heart of a story!

Favorite Quote(s)
I was powerless where she was concerned, and for the first time in my life, I was okay with that.”

Other people see the Point as this awful place full of crime and terrible people. To me, it was always home. It’s where I felt the safest and most loved.

She might be the princess of the Point, but she was the Queen, the undeniable ruler, of my crooked and shady heart.

First Impressions
Under the Stars is the second installment in the "Cottonwood Cove" series. I really had a fun time with this one and it really brought to the surface this family that I fell hard for in the first book. The heroine is one of the sisters in this family. Their bantering was delightful. I had a blast with the office romance that we see being implemented. There was a level of charm and endearing emotion with solid spice that wraps this story in a beautiful package.

First Line
No more dirtbags.

The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Maddox Lancaster
Boss of a traditional publishing company. Emotionally struggling with childhood trauma with a cinnamon roll character type.

The Heroine: Georgia Reynolds
Sassy and snarky. A free spirit. Recovering from a bad breakup. Creative and unique and strong willed.

Summary
Under the Stars is the beginning of where Georgia Reynolds, has been emotionally recovering from her boyfriend cheating on her. She comes to Cottonwood Cove to be with family and find something different. She gets a job with a trad publishing company as the CEO's PA. She tends to get into his things and be a bit wild and creative and just what Maddox needed. He is bossy and crusty at first, but he can't help but be drawn to her. They start a bit of a fling, but soon their secret relationship turns into something deep.

What I Loved
This is a deeply romantic romance that took my breath away. I wasn't sure what I thought in the beginning, but quickly this author just had me falling in love with these characters. I was so endearingly charmed by these characters and their banter was so loveable. It has such a different take on a boss/employee setup. I found their interactions sexy and enticing but also with underlying emotion that had such depth to it. We also have some serious issues that are tackled which are well balanced with fun banter that leaves you with a smile on your face from beginning to end. Even though there is a power dynamic, the way this book is written, it doesn't feel like there is one at all. (although lets be honest I love power dynamics lol). But I do think those that struggle with those aspects, then you will enjoy how its handled here. The hero is more of a cinnamon roll and he is all in for the heroine and making sure he is never taking advantages of the situation when they get together. Although he is deliciously bossy and I loved that. So he is more of a alpha cinnamon roll.

What I Struggled With
The heroine at first. I am kinda tired of these heroines sometimes lol they are just everywhere which is what kept this book from a five star rating or even a 4.5 rating. She was just very entitled and so disrespectful. Some of the actions she takes I would NEVER even think about doing. But I guess it made the book fun for the author. But it just rubbed me the wrong way in the beginning a bit. But her character does grow on you but why does EVERY Single heroine in a small town romance HAVE to be sassy and disrespectful? We can't have a sweet and fun heroine? Or shy and kind? LOL

Narration
The narration on this book was SPECTACULAR and is one of the star reasons why this rating is as high as it is. They make such a great team in really portraying the personalities of these characters so well.

Overall View
Under the Stars is a stunning romance that delves into deep emotion, sparkling humor and with a touch of sass and family connection to keep you hooked ....line....and sinker.

First Impressions
With Every Breath is the fourth installment in the "Slow Burn" series and this is Eliza's book. I didn't really remember her that much from the previous books, this is a series that if you want to remember the character connections to read them closer together. I will be honest in that this is my least favorite series from this author, I just don't seem to enjoy the characters as much as I would like to although the hero was delicious, man we don't see alpha males like this anymore. I miss them like crazy haha The heroine was the hard one to really enjoy, she was super unlikeable especially in the beginning and I almost set it aside because of her however, I am glad that I stuck with it because she does get better as the story progresses. But a solid suspense to enjoy.

First Line
Eliza came awake with none of her usual crispness and ready-to-take-on-the-world attitude.

The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Wade
Alpaa male, lives by his own rules, border line anti hero, skirts the law on the edge to get things done if needed. An acquaintence of the team but not super trust worthy with them and is as alpha as you can get.

The Heroine: Eliza
Eliza is a alpha female, she has been the co partner of the group and knows how to fight just as much as the others do. She has a past that tears her apart inside and keeps her secrets close and doesn't trust easily

Summary
Eliza is still recovering mentally and emotionally from almost being killed. She learns news that a man from her past is being released from prison and he will be coming for her for revenge and she can't put her friends at risk, she will do anything to save them. She slowly distances herself. Wade Sterling sees right through her and knows that not everything is as it seems. He took a bullet for her and there has been an angsty relationship between them, but a simmering chemistry. When Wade catches her running away with enough ammo to arm a third world country, he knows that circumstances are so much worse than he thought. He forces her to be real with someone and take care of herself and together with the Devereaux team they work to bring down one of the greatest enemies that they have faced...

What I Loved
The plot of this story really packs a punch. This is something that Maya Banks has always excelled at, she can really pull you into the story so flawlessly. Even if its not likeable in the beginning, I honestly was so swept away by the plot and just had to stick with the story because it was so compelling. We have our team of the Devereaux security and it was so fun getting back to this group again. I have just loved them all and they are such a delight to read and their friendship and commadarie is infectious. Then we have our hero, WADE STERLING. He is one piece of delicious meat that I just wanted to gobble up. A beyond sexy alpha male that will do anything to protect his woman. I love how dominant he is in this book, and will protect Eliza even from herself. She does get to the point where she is neglecting her basic needs, and he comes storming in, so alpha and commanding and making sure she learns the value in taking care of herself even to the point of kidnapping her to make a point BAWAHAHAHA its fabulous right? Yeah, I had a fun time with this hero. He really entertains and just his personality so easily will curl your toes.

What I Struggled With
I really had a hard time with this heroine, oh boy she was so hard around the edges and I had such a difficult time with her. She is one of those women that have to be so strong all the time, and never trusts anyone or relies on anyone or it makes her weak. So she was super unlikeable in the beginning and I had a hard time enjoying her character because she is so rough character wise and I just don't relate with heroines in any way like this. Even though she does get better, I almost DNF'd this book because of Eliza so she takes some growing and getting used to.

Narration
This narration was so beautifully done. I always do these books in audio because the narration is just right. Its compelling, engaging and keeps you wanting for more. They also bring out the tone of suspense that is just right to keep you intrigued with the plot.

Overall View
With Every Breath was a superb read that kept me engaged and while it was rough in some points, it delivered in the end and captivated my emotions in ways that I didn't expect.....a solid installment that has me intrigued to keep going with the next.

Favorite Quote(s)
“You mean something to me. You. And that means all of you, not just the parts you want me to see while you hide the parts you’re so determined to be ashamed of and feel guilt over. You’re mine, Eliza. All of you. Every inch of you, body and soul. And it wasn’t just your body that I claimed when I made love to you and was inside you so deep that there will never be a time you don’t feel me. I also claimed your heart, your soul, your mind and everything that makes you the person you are and what you were meant to be. And what you were meant to be is mine.”

First Impressions
A Wolf Among Dragons is the eighth installment in the "de Wolfe Pack" and I absolutely adored it in every way. In fact this is my FIRST 6 star historical romance read of the year. Even after a few years of reading this author, I have to wonder how does she write such delicious work? Its just delightful and the way she can combine historical facts and bring in strong characters that somehow fit the time so well, is such a blast. I am not sure how I truly feel about this book because it had me all over the place emotion wise. There was something so much more about this book than I expected. I was NOT this whirlwind of a romance or the emotion that happens in this one....yeah didn't see it coming. But brownie points to Kathryn Le Veque for writing such a superb tale.

First Line
It was the children's hour.

The Main Protagonists
The Hero: James de Wolfe (Blayth)
James, is believed dead by his family.
Scarred and struggles with a vocal disability from battle wounds

The Heroine: Lady Asmara
A Dragon princess for Wales
Royal Heritage
Kick ass female warrior

Summary
James is one of the sons of William de Wolfe and while on the battlefield was believed to have been killed in Wales. Now its been five years, and the family still mourns their loss. James is now living under the name of Wales hero...Blayth. He has some brilliant tactics that are only re-energizing the Wales fight for freedom. But he has lost all of his memories and only believes on what he has been told. But he has dreams of strange men but can't pin point who they are. He fights alongside, their warrior princess Asmara. Who is a capable warrior and can battle with the best of them. Neither of them expected love but they find love and heart with each other. But when he learns that he could be a English warrior of one of the most prestige families in all of England, he wants to know of his heritage. But he has an enemy, one who will manipulate him and betray him when he least expects it....will the Wolfe family lose their son they never knew was alive all of this time?

What I Loved
A Wolfe Among Dragons is the eighth installment but you could read this after "The Wolfe" and "The Serpent", you don't necessarily need to read the other installments but do recommend reading at least those two books FIRST. So this book blew my mind! I didn't expect to be so thrown off than by this book. Its a story that had such a emotional impact, I felt like I was run over by a train with this one. If you love medieval romance, then you definitely need to think about this book or author, because she writes such captivating books.

From the very beginning, we see the scene at the infamous Welsh battle where James was believed to have been killed. And man my heart, the way you see this family not wanting to leave him behind but believing he was dead and so heart broken not to take his body with them? Just so heartbreaking. And I didn't even know after all this time that James had a "Lazarus" rise from the dead type of story. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but the plot in this story was brilliantly laid out. Once you see him five years following that battle scene, you just know that you will be on a wild ride and Le Veque really carries that intensity from beginning to end.

The romance that develops was so memorable and had such a epic feel to it. The chemistry that these two have together is spot on, and their connection is a bit different than I have read from this author before and it had a level of sensuality I truly adored seeing being mixed in with the story. Our characters have such strong personalities but at the same time they are so respectful towards each other. There is such a level of teamwork between them. The way that they banter is super endearing. And when the hero gets so vulnerable and needs a woman to stand by him, I just respected the way in which Asmara trusts in him and doesn't spurn him when the truth comes out. She only proves her loyalty to him and is there when he needs it both physically and emotionally.

The Plot was top-tier in this one. So well developed and I never knew what would be happening next. We have so many moments of adventure, action, and strong humor that is placed in here at just the right times. This author really pulls you into this historical time period that feels so raw and real. There is quite a bit of political intrigue that was fascinating and layered into the story that has such a genuine feel to it. The family conflict was so heartbreaking. I was not expecting the ending both happy and sad that leaves you with such a deep poignant heart in the end. I am actually surprised Le Veque went the way that she did. But at the same time, I kinda knew it would happen considering what I have seen in other books. But no worries...our couple....DEFINITE HEA!

What I Struggled With
Nothing, it was perfection in every way!

Narration
Brad Wills is one of my favorite narrators. So talented, with the voice that really delivers the best medieval vibes and is flawless in his transfer of character voice tones!

Overall View
A Wolf Among Dragons is a romance that will literally dig deep into your emotions, strike deeply into the historical elements and fire up the tension in a brilliant masterful way! A WELSH ROMANTIC GEM!

First Impressions
Fury of Frustration was very different from the rest of the series. I really enjoyed the way this book was different from the other. She hasn't done an enemies to lovers trope in this series and I found it fascinating to see the setup of the story. Both characters have good motivations so I did have a fun time with the angst although it ended too quickly and yes that is me saying that lol

Summary
So this story starts off with our hero, who is looking to buy the land that a infamous inn holds and he has his own reasons for wanting to get the property. Then we have the heroine, who has a history of being taken advantage of by the male members of her family and ex and has never really been valued for the work that she does and she can see GHOSTS!! When she inherits the property that have magic behind it, she starts to realize she has some special abilities and is learning what she is capable of. When danger hits the property, our characters will have to come together and discover a love they didn't expect to find.

What I Loved
I absolutely adored the characters. They are both really strong in their own way and have such stubborn type of characterizations. haha But when they come together its so delightful. I enjoyed their banter and how they interact with one another. Even though at first they see each other as adversary's, they also hold a respect for each other and that is the TYPE of enemies to lovers that I love to see. The plotline was delicious and kept me on the edge of my seat.

What I Struggled With
The evolvement from enemies to lovers was super sudden. I know these books aren't super long but still there needed to be better development because suddenly they were together and it didn't quite make much sense. I also wanted to see the growth with the heroine. There were all these changes within her and they were so sudden and didn't really make sense. This book with this plot needed so much more growth.

Narration
The narration was really great on this! It will expounded on the personality of our characters so well and really brought our the angst and banter so well that entertained.

Overall View
While I had a good time with this story, it definitely could have more room for improvement on it. I am curious to see how the series end!

First Impressions
The Truth About Him is the second book and the finale to the story between Dylan and Annie's story. This book literally picks up right after the first book ends so you can easily jump right into this one after reading the first book. I had such a fun time with this one here, and seeing the way into which these two learn each other and find their way of resolving their issues. I really admired the way in which this story was written. It starts off with so much intrigue and danger and tension and seeing our couple really find their ways past the stones thrown into their path was admirable.

First Line
Annie McKay came to slowly. Aware in pieces of her surroundings.

Summary
No summary as it will spoil the ending of the previous books.

What I Loved
I am going to keep this review a bit shorter as I don't want to reveal what happens at the beginning of this one as the first book ended with a cliffhanger. I know some of you may not mind some spoilers and I am sure other reviews will have those, but if you really want to know what happens I have it below here
(view spoiler)

The romance between Dylan and Annie is so endearing in this story. They really have to face some issues within their relationship and learn to fight for each other. There are secrets that revealed that were hinted at in the first book. But we also see the type of love that these two have for each other. I just admired their trust in one another and embracing fully what they have. It definitely had a "couple against the world" type of feel to the story. There are multiple characters that try to dissuade these two from being together. My heart ached for both of them. They both have flaws and struggles, but they truly come together so sweetly. I admired their convictions and standing strong despite the discouragement and learning to fight for each other. There is such a level of teamwork that comes into play into their story which I really appreciated. They had some drama in the first book, but this one is where their relationship issues gets resolved pretty early on and we see them fight against the outer conflicts that rise up.

Narration
Like the previous book, the narration in this one was with the same narrator and they did a superb job in portraying the conclusion for Dylan and Annie.

Overall View
This story was a powerful conclusion to our couple and seeing the mysteries being resolved and seeing our epic pair find their poignant journey to their well deserved happy ending. A POWER PACKED FINALE!

Favorite Quote(s)
I was not the right man for her, but I wanted to be.
And I was humbled by her choice.

She owned me. Despondent and wrecked, smiling and bright—it didn’t matter. I was hers.

“You. You are what is different. You have changed everything.” It was the unvarnished truth. As close to love as I was capable of getting.
