First Impressions
Saint is the most recent addition to the "Priest" series and this is a series that I first want to point out is NOT going to be for everyone, especially if you happen to be part of the faith that is being represented here which is Catholicism. I am not sure how well researched or authentic this is to the faith, since I just know the basics, but its definitely fascinating. I was curious about this one and I have had it on my TBR since I first read "Priest" some years ago. I found this one really tackled some taboos, some hard emotional truths and reshape certain expectations.
First Line
The air is crushed sage and lavender, and a naked monk is singing in front of me.
Summary
Elijah and Aiden once had a angsty love affair that broke them when Aiden had a "come to Jesus" moment that changed him on a elemental level and he didn't feel like he could give Elijah anything when he needed to devote everything he had to what saved him which for him was God. So for the last five years he has been devoting everything he is to that mission. But now the time is swiftly coming to a close for him to say his vows, and he is reunited with the only mortal man that held his heart.....Elijah. Only Elijah is engaged to be married, and now Aiden is having to face up to his decisions and make a determination on what will be best for him for the long haul.....is the choice he has to make between God and Elijah....or will there be an in between where he can have both in his life?
What I Loved
Whew!!! This book was fire and it blew me away. But honestly I can't say that Sierra Simone ever does anything normal does she? She always liked to push those buttons and boundaries and I think I would struggle more with these books if I was a Catholic. But since I am not, I can enjoy them for what they are. I do love the spiritual aspects that she covers here and I really respect how she handles these delicate issues and you can tell how much research goes into the heart of what makes these books so resonating. Although there are some parts of this that made me a tad uncomfortable (I will never be comfortable with intimate scenes in spiritual sacred place so that will always be a boundary pusher for me personally).
I really enjoyed the struggle especially internally that we Aiden really go through with this one. We see him really have to face up to mistakes of the past and really figure out what he truly wants in life. We see him in a situation where he has to face up to decisions, as a changed man, as a different man than who he was when he was with Elijah. And the lessons that he has learned that has allowed him to have a different perspective in life. I appreciate the growth that we see from Aiden, his journey into becoming the man that he needs to be and that God wants him to be. We see such great relationships being formed and loved the adventures that they have together in Ireland. These two melted me heart in their moments, and the way that they fight for one another was truly inspiring. Sierra Simone definitely wrote such a keeper for this one.
What I Struggled With
The only thing I would have changed is seeing more perspective from Elijah. We didn't see his POV very much and I think it would have only added more to the story.
Narration
BRILLIANT!!! One of the best narrations I have listened to for this author. So if you love this author and these narrators, you just can't go wrong with them. They have done in the past some of my favorite MM stories in narrative view.
Overall View
Saint is a brilliantly penned story that takes the delicate spiritual heart and blends in the emotion and turmoil of what love can bring to you and how to learn to balance it with other priorities that are a driving force in life. HEART MELTING OF A STORY IN EVERY WAY.

Steam/Spice Explanations
Simmering cup of tea---soft warm touches and light intimacy
Warmin' by the fire- a medium level of sexual tension, a balance of sexual and emotional intimacy, lighter on the details in the sexual moments.
Steamin' up the room -the sexual content is more explicit in the language and tone, heavier amount of sexual scenes.
Blazing fire to the building-The prime focus is the sex scenes, scorching hot, and could burn one. Less focus on the emotional intimacy to the relationship.

My Review:
What an adorable story of a novella this was. I am not sure how I missed this one, there are a few shorts and novella's I somehow missed in recent years so I was eager to get to this one. This story didn't seem familiar at all. I was very intrigued by this one though. I loved the premise. Its basically a protective alpha male, with a kind soft FMC which is my favorite dynamic especially for this author and its more rare for her to write these kinds of couple pairings. I found Secrets at Midnight to be so endearing. The hero and heroine meet in some unlikely circumstances, there is instant connection, but the heroine appears human but she isn't. She actually is a changeling but suffered a trauma as a child and now its killing her if she lets it. I love the caretaking feel to this story, how the hero guides her through the process of connecting with her animal. Nalini Singh is queen when it comes to writing in depth novellas and this one is no contest for that.
Overall I had a fun time with this one and didn't want to leave the story once I was drawn into it. A true keeper of a read!

First Impressions
The Orchid Throne is the first book in the "Forgotten Empires" series. And this series I saw around so much but I honestly am not sure why I didn't pick it up. I think because I knew it was a trilogy surrounding one couple and I hadn't really gotten on the Jeffe Kennedy train yet or even read any of her books. I am glad I had read some of her other works though before this one. Not sure I would have stuck with this series as this first book is definitely more slow burn. But I was impressed with the world building aspects and the banter between our couple "Conri and Lia". You definitely need to be patient with the first half of the story, but once you get to about Chapter 15, it starts to really pick up pace and then you will be on the edge of your seat.
First Line
The oldest records and recollection agree that it all began with the discovery of vurgsten.
The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Conri
The Heroine: Euthalia
Summary
Queen euthalia, is queen of the her island and she will do whatever it takes to keep her people safe. She has managed to keep herself from being married from a tyrant who controls much of the mainland. She has learned to play a game of chess when it comes to politics to keep her people safe and free. But there is a tortured man wolf she sees in her dreams that haunts her but also gives her a sense of hope for the future. Conri, who was the former prince of Oriel, was taken into the mines, and he built up his own army and is determined to overthrow the emperor. Conri knows his one chance of hope, is to convince Lia, to marry him and work with her to defeat the mad emperor, but he will have to convince her first….
What I Loved
The Orchid Throne was simply fascinating in many respects. It was definitely slower in some respects but I respected what the author was implementing with this story here. We get background plot lines for the two main characters, Conri and Lia. We see how Conri is imprisoned and forms an uprising and takes control again. Then we have the side of Lia, who is queen of an island and her people have magic and grace and beauty. Lia is such a intelligent and cunning heroine. She still is feminine in many respects but I admired her tenacity and her creativity and how she is so meticulous in how she plans for just about anything. She is like a chess master, she is so careful in each step that she takes when she is working with the emperor and his cronies. And she doesn't trust anyone. We also see that she is a magical being and I can't wait to see the type of woman she is destined to become.
The relationship that builds between Conri and Lia was so interesting. I loved their banter. Their interactions are beyond hilarious and we see how well they come together when it matters. Both of them are so stubborn and firm willed, so they were bound to clash. Conri is very new when it comes to working with women, courting and even the more intimate side of a relationship. I love how he could be this alpha warrior, but when it came to the intimate things, he is like a new babe and is so green. Lia is the one who has mastered courtship, kissing and the like. So it definitely had a unique dynamic that isn't common to see in a fantasy romance. I also loved the forced marriage aspect. And while Lia has her own twists, so does Conri. They definitely match so well and I absolutely adored the ending for this book. Its more of a serial teaser, and not a big couple cliffhanger. Which I really respected.
What I Struggled With
The story is very slow in the second half, our couple doesn't even meet until more than halfway so its definitely more to build up the background for our characters and get a sense of who they are. But it definitely is more slowly built and won't necessarily be for everyone. I recommend the audio if you struggle with slow builds, at least for the first book here. But once you get to about Ch. 15, then it picks up pace. But the first half can be a challenge.
Narration
Not my favorite lol The narration is confusing to be honest. There is just no change in tone or inflection at all, so it can be hard knowing when you are in the POV for the hero or the heroine. So it definitely should have been done better especially for a trad pub fantasy romance book.
Overall View
The Orchid Throne is a Majestic fantasy that culminates the elements of a high risks fantasy with a slow burn romance that will curl your toes and make your heart sing in those small moments of clarity and thrills.

Pia Does Hollywood was a delight short novella from this author and this is where we see a continuation of Dragos Goes to Washington. Pia is pregnant, and she is called to attend the light fae court. We see some fun moments with Liam and where Dragos and Pia tell him the truth and I LOVE that we got that scene as I was disappointed in that we didn't see that in Dragos Goes to Washington. I love Liam and his relationship with Dragos and Pia. They are the most adorable family. We see some danger that enters the story and where Dragos and Pia face a great challenge, a type of challenge that they haven't yet faced. My heart broke in this one, and I couldn't go to bed until I had read this book here. I was so addicted to this one here. The author really knew what she was doing with this one. The conflict that we see that these two face, seeing how it really pushes the boundaries of their relationship and seeing how they overcome this conflict was brilliantly written. I am just loving this Dragos and Pia extended epilogue. Its so fascinating and they are by far one of my favorite couples.
My Review:
This was such an interesting story and I fell so quickly in love with it. This is such a quick novella and was a blast of a good time. It had charm, some outer conflict and a sweet relationship and fun banter. So just about everything you look for in a good historical romance. I love how solid this novella was written, it almost didn't feel like a novella, it felt so well developed that it could have easily been passed off as an almost novel. So bravo to Eloisa James for taking such care with this story.
This is a story of class difference and I love these type of dynamics. I didn't truly understand why it was class difference that much. I mean the hero is a servant but yet brother to a prince? lol I just couldn't understand why his brother and sister in law treated the way that they did. He sacrificed so much for them and they treat him not as good as I would have liked to see. They are one of the main couples in the series so that was a bit disappointing. But I did love what we see from this couple. In how they bond in healing a baby dealing with colick and how they connect. They instantly know that they are it for each other, but the heroine is on the run from a fiancee she has no interest in marrying and is in hiding and poses as a nanny as a cover. It was a very unique premise that I could easily get behind. I loved how it was resolved and a sweet epilogue. I am eager to finish up the rest of the series though.

He forgot he didn't really want to kiss her, because, oh, hell yes, he did. He forgot his mission, the entire reason he was here. He forgot everything but the feel and taste and scent of her...
First Impressions
Seduction Game was fiery romantic heart in every single way. I absolutely loved it. I swear each book just gets better and has so many swoons and polish the more you read into it. Seduction Game drew my attention and I loved the cover and its probably when this book came out that I went more intense on wanting to read this series. I love the edgy but classic beauty feel of the cover and the PINK is awesome! This story I went into pretty blind, and I will say that the beginning might be a bit slow at times, so you do need to be patient at times, but once these two are together it really takes off and it had me in all my feels all the way through.
I believed every word you said. You were the best time I'd ever had- until you became the worst time I've ever had.
First Line
Trust No One.
The Main Protagonists

“She lived so much of her life in boxes. . . . Now it seemed all those boxes had come open, their contents strewn about for Nick to see. She just didn’t know how to put it all away again.”
What I Loved
So many aspects of this story really worked for me. First off I love secrets and mistaken identities and Pamela Clare really added some unique twists to this aspect. I loved that these both are working for the government but have different clearances so they both think the other is bad lol It definitely adds a certain level of angst to the romance that I didn't expect. I loved seeing the members and couples from previous books in the I-Team so involved in this story. I love how they are so defensive of Holly and willing to have her back no matter what. I found it so fascinating in how the events of the story led up to everything.
Had he ever felt so connected to a woman? He couldn't tell where his body ended and where her's began. She was his home...his temple...his heaven..."
Nick and Holly have a great connection to each other. At first its all about passion and learning each other's bodies. They really connect so well sexually and physically. Its very vibrant in how they come together. But then as they learn to be more open with one another, their relationship goes from physical to something so much deeper. It is so dynamic in how these aspects are developed between them. Both Nick and Holly are such fighters both inside and out of the bedroom. They are protective of one another and appreciate each other's talents in the field. I love how their trust builds so fully and the third act in this book is where their relationship really comes together for me. The amount of openness and love that they have for each other is guaranteed to keep you on the edge. I was intrigued seeing how their emotions get so involved and what they are willing to sacrifice for each other. The emotional connection was so fierce and intense, I felt so enthralled in so many of these emotional poignant moments that I didn't expect. I should have but serious this might be the most emotional book this author has written. I was so caught up in my emotions in this story that it so easily evoked. My heart fell so deep for Nick and Holly. They were such a kick ass couple that while didn't start conventionally, ended up stunning this reader with its vibrancy, passion and deep intimate connection that is so powerfully evoking.
What I Struggled With
The beginning, it does start out a bit slow as it introduces these characters, be patient with the story as it will pick up speed.
Narration
WONDERFUL!!! Such a great narrator, who really pulls you in so easily, the voice was so lovely to listen to and added in the right accents that felt real and there was even some well done sound effects and for a suspense like this, that really added the right touch.

My Review:
Hood River Zero is the last of the "Hood River Hoodlums" series. I was fairly nervous about this book as I am not a fan of Penny at all. I almost was tempted just to skip over it to be honest. But I have OCD when it comes to reading series so I knew that I needed to read this book especially with all the high reviews that there are for this book. Hood River Zero was so much better than I expected. It actually had me hooked and I didn't want to put it down. K. Webster I am convinced can write just about anything because she made this book for me when I went into it expecting to have to DNF it lol
This book had so much depth to it. I wasn't always a fan of some of the terms they called each other though even later in the story. I loved the connected that Trey and Penny have for each other. How they can see each other and see the clues that their own families easily miss. I loved the exploration of disabilities that is focused in this story and the way in which we see how these two bond in their differences. I found it intriguing the plot of the heroine going undercover, and the hero being a single dad and trying to get guardianship over his daughter he didn't know about. My only issue was seeing how Penny deceived Trey in the way that she does. It just was in how she did it, that I felt like she needed to do a good grovel and there wasn't much of one lol
Overall I found this to be a delightful finale and everything got wrapped up in a nice little bow!!! I can't wait to explore more from this author moving forward.

My Review:
Bedding the Enemy was a brilliant story and I really enjoyed this one. I so WISH I could have found it in audio though, I am not sure why it wasn't possible to find when the other books in the series are. So I did have to physically read this book. I really loved the setting though. I feel like its more rare to read this era and have it in a court setting. This is where we see King James Stewart in the beginning of his reign before he lost his family, we see him with his wife Anne and loved how well Mary Wine wrote this aspect, you could see them so in love and their story historically is heartbreaking. But I loved seeing this story set before all the bad things happen and they are still in the glow of their reign. Our hero is a child of a man who betrayed the king and has come to London to commit himself to the King and he runs into a beauty, who is soft and feminine....Helena Knyvett. She is being abused and manipulated by her brother, and fairly early on its evident in the story. The king encourages Keir to pursue Helena. I loved the historical aspects in this one. Mary Wine is queen and I really need to get through her backlist and see what her newer books are like. Hopefully they are just as good as her trad works are. (if you have read her newer stuff let me know what you think)!!!!
Bedding the Enemy is NOT what the title implies. There is very minimal angst in the relationship itself, its actually outer angst. The brother is against the relationship, he doesn't want her happy at all. We see how evil her brother really is and I felt so heartbroken for Helena and how abusive he is. I did enjoy the romance that develops between Keir and Helena. I love how protective Keir is of Helena and really of women in general. He is honestly such a good guy hero and we need more of these. I loved the way we see the conflict arise in the second half of the book though. We see the King being put in a bad position politically. The courtly politics was done so so well here. This book is set in the era shortly after the tudor era and we are see what King Henry 8th really did to the court and how it affected it afterwards.
Overall I had a solid time with this one here, and their relationship was fascinating. I loved the historical setting and era that this book takes place in, and how invested Keir and Helena are in the relationship. Super superb in every way. If you love historical romance and want to dig deeper in medieval, this author is a must read.

My Review:
Ravished was a true delight. I am glad I was able to land on this prompt and get to this book. One of my main goals for the year is to read more of this author's historical romances. Especially her older ones as many readers just rave about them and they are so well done in low inner angst and they have such solid humor attached to them that really gives off that charming endearing vibe that comes so easily with her writing. I was able to find this one in audio. Its on Anyplay if any of you are interested, its ironically not available on Amazon. Anne Flosknik has such talent in older historical romances and I love how she narrates. She is one of the better historical narrators in my opinion and isn't talked about enough.
Ravished wasn't quite the book I expected it to be. I was hoping the "smuggling and pirating" would be a bit stronger, but it still had some solid elements to the story. I loved the marriage of convenience aspect though and this HEROINE. I loved how all in she was for the relationship and how she saw through the gossip and believed in her man over it. She was always defending him even at the cost of causing gossip and scandal to protect him .....Can we please get many more heroines like this please? It really reminded me a bit of Elisa Braden's heroines. The romance was a a delight. It had quite a few swoony moments and I loved them in their quiet moments.
Overall I had a blast with Ravished and it was entertaining, adventurous and sensual. I can't wait for more Amanda Quick in the future.

First Impressions
Sweet As Sin is the first book in the "Bad Habits " series by J.T. Geissinger and I have been itching to try out these books for quite some time now. And Romanceopoly really gave me this push to read this book here and actually try it out. Sometimes her contemporary romance can be a hit or miss for me but this one was definitely a hit. I found it beyond entertaining. Its a slow starter though, so be patient with this one. But once you get to about 25% that is when the story really picks up pace. This is a insta love story, so if you don't care for this trope, you probably shouldn't read it lol But I love this trope and I felt like Geissinger really handled it so well. And it had some drama and angst at times, but it seemed to be a blend of inner and outer which I did find refreshing. Not many authors will do both. Its normally just one or the other.
First Line
Had I known my horoscope would be an accurate indicator of just how bizarre and life altering my day would turn out to be, I might never have gotten out of bed in the first place.
The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Nico
The Heroine: Kat
Summary
Kat is a makeup artist and she is working on set for a famous rock star band and she takes a offer to work on set for a video for the group, what she doesn't depend on though is to fall head over heels for the head of the band, Nico. Nico is used to getting what he wants, but now Kat will make him work for it. It won't be easy making Kat fall for him. He knows that they have a real connection and is determined to prove to her that what they have is genuine. But Kat has been deeply hurt in the past and never has a man been worthy of her trust, until Nico. Nico isn't going to give her up without a fight. But Nico's life is complicated and he has a enemy, and it will take deep trust for Kat and Nico to find their way into their happy ever after.
What I Loved
Sweet As Sin was a true delight to read. And while it wasn't a perfect book and on occasion had me rolling my eyes, I enjoyed so many parts to this book. I loved the band, we didn't see them a ton, but the moments that we did get to see them was superb in every single way. Nico was beyond sexy. He is this dominant, sexy rock star who likes control and does have a temper at times. But I honestly didn't mind. He was delicious alpha in every way and I couldn't get enough of it. Then we have Kat who is a good blend of strong and sweet. I loved her strength but she is also vulnerable in certain moments and we see that done so well in this one here. I loved how she learns to trust in Nico and learning to let go of the past in order to really have a future with Nico. Nico knows that they are meant to be together, but it takes some with for Kat to go along with it and learn to let go of the pain of the past. I also think her friends held her back in her relationship and wish that they had been more supportive with her relationship with him.
What I Struggled With
I really struggled with the lack of trust that Kat has with Nico. At first it makes complete sense, but she is constantly never trusting him or losing faith or just going with the worst scenario and not learning to let go of her guilt of the past. Also I was not a fan of her friends at all lol They were kinda annoying and I wasn't a fan in how they held her back. And I do think they could have been more supportive in what she had with Nico. Not really excited for their stories to be honest, I wasn't excited to see them have books in this series.
Narration
Fantastic. I especially got a kick out of how the humor was implemented into this one here. And the vibe of the story I felt like was well focused on. I would have liked a duet or dual POV a bit more though for this book.
