I will admit that I was excited for this one. This one came to me as a recommendation but I really wasn't prepared for the level of angst in this one. I wanted to really love it, but this style of angst just isn't for me to be honest. We also have a hero that cheats in this one and too much dramatics in the groveling that just didn't seem genuine and I just could finish it. So I decided to DNF this one as it just wasn't for me. This style of historical romance just doesn't quite work for me anymore.

I was really disappointed with this and wasn't able to get too far into it. I really need to stop listening to this narrator, he really just doesn't work for me. I will read this in physical or ebook format in the near future.

I hate doing this, but I am going to have to DNF this one. This one was overly political and mentioning certain political figures, in a demeaning way. I don't care for pushing personal views of an author into a story. So was looking forward to this one, but will be setting this one aside. Maybe one day when this factor doesn't rub me the wrong way, I will be able to enjoy it more. I am sure if you are fans of Kennedy Ryan, then this one will work for you more than it did me! But love this author and will try her other books.

I will be reading this again, later on. I think the narrator ruined this for me and I was super super lost in the world building and details. I will begin with book one in the trilogy and read it physically and see if that helps. I got to 50% and just need to set it aside, as the narration was too distracting to focus on the story.
