Lennix is a crusader. One of her biggest enemies is the Cane family. What she didn't expect was to fall in love with one of them.
Maxim wants nothing to do with his corrupt father. For him, that looks like lying to the beautiful girl he meets at a protest.

This was an interesting book (the first in a series). I liked Lennix and how much of her culture and backstory we got. I liked Maxim's character and all of the climate facts that came along with him. The beginning of the book was my favorite, honestly. Seeing them meet when they are young and so idealistic. But, I did have some problems as the story went along. I didn't like how the book was paced. I think it would have been better if the past and present chapters were mixed.
The present day chapters run like an episode of Scandal. Lennix played the part of Olivia. BUT, I wanted to see more of how she became that hard person.

All in all, this was an interesting action, spicy romance.

Lina recently filed for divorce from husband, Brown. But when their friends come to town, she talks him into pretending to still be together in order to save face.
This book had some promise, but didn’t quite deliver. I love second chance romances, but this one lacked some of the drama that I crave. There was a lot of back and forth with Lina that I didn’t really understand and then the resolution came on a little fast. I also wouldn’t say this was a romcom as there wasn’t a lot of comedy. The side story of trying to save the old building where all the friends had met was cute and I did like most of the characters. Fans of marriage in trouble romance will love this!

Review
Spells For Forgetting by Adrienne Young
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a perfect fall book filled with mystery.

✨Emery has spent years trying to get over the night her best friend was murdered and her boyfriend, August was accused of the crime. Now 14 years later, August is back and old feelings are resurfacing.

✨This book had so many different things that I loved. Here are some.

✨The witchy vibe. The whole island has an undercurrent of magic. I loved how Young didn’t waste time explaining the magic and just had it come out organically.

✨Emery and August were true soulmates. My heart ached for them when separated and then again with the obstacles in their way.

✨Twists and turns. There were many. I was very happy with the resolution though.

While this book did start out a little slow, that helped build the tension. I enjoyed all of this! A must read!
