a haunting tale which spans a number of generations, after paris is a dual timeline novel which traces the lives of Ruby and Cécile—Ruby in the modern world and Cécile in 1940s France trying to survive the Nazi occupation. engaging, fast paced, and enthralling, this historical fiction novel is well worth the read

the book is fairly well written, but i do not agree with the content in the slightest. it was interesting to read something from someone with this mentality, however.

first of all, the cover is absolutely gorgeous. zero notes. loved the characters and the story, the water atmosphere was poetic. the world building was also interesting & well-developed, something i find lacking in fantasy these days. overall, a solid fantasy pick for fans of mermaids & pirates.

transplants is a powerful story of two women, which perfectly encapsulates themes of identity, belonging, & immigration. well-crafted characters that display the similarities and differences of their experiences in a beautifully written story.
