This is very different to what I've been reading lately, and I definitely noticed with how long it took me to get into. This was a fun and interesting read that I'm glad I picked up, but I'm not sure yet if I'll continue the series.
The set up of this book is so fun. Elsie has been engaged for a while, and her fiancé decides to plan their entire wedding and schedule it for a week later. It's the wake up call she needs that this isn't the route for her, but the (now ex) fiancé insists that she still goes on the honeymoon but instead takes her best friend Ginny. Who has been in love with Elsie for years.
As mentioned, the setup was great. It was also interesting getting glimpses of the friendship (and crushes) over the years. Also loved the rep of a non-binary lesbian lead. The biggest frustration was the way the miscommunication trope played out - including the immaturity of reactions to it.
This book gets very spicy, and some of the scenes might not be for everyone. But that's something those of us who read spicy romance should expect - we don't have to want the same things the characters do!
I definitely enjoyed this one, but I think I was disappointed is that I'd anticipated a new absolute favourite.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the free digital copy. All thoughts are my own.

I love the incredible women in this series, and how they will do literally anything for each other. I felt for both Olivia and Gabby so much with everything they had been through.
This is best friends to lovers, and very much has the situation where neither of them want to mess up what they have and so doesn't push their feelings.
Loved the moments with Olivia's siblings too.
Dark but beautiful and so full of emotion.

The main characters are fun - Gemma being a super headstrong lawyer who's also super subby makes for a nice dynamic.
But hands down my favourite parts were the Bliss community, with all the parts the different characters played. Nate is hilarious.
And special mention to the Texas Sirens moments. So good.

With this being book 8 of 10 in the Dark Olympus series, the overall series plot is really starting to build towards its conclusion. This review contains some spoilers for earlier books.
This book focuses on Poseidon, a legacy member of the Thirteen who has lives a more practical life than the others. And we have Icarus, newly alone in Olympus after the rest of his family either died or got out.
So this is a dark romance with BDSM, where the characters are enemies and one is a prisoner of the other. And yet the main words I think of to describe this are soft and sweet. There are so many beautiful moments between these two, as they find who they are separate from what Olympus has made them.
I thought this was a great addition to the series, with a great story in its own right but also doing the groundwork for the next book. I definitely loved the change of pace in the way that Poseidon handles the politics.
Also special mention for the way the book ended - truly fitting for both characters.

I can't say what the experience would be like for someone who hasn't read the Innkeeper novels, but as someone who loves those books this is such a fun way to re-visit them.
Not sure I was in the right mood for this one.
The idea of the plot setup was actually really interesting, but with the length of book it never had time to deliver on that.

Nice continuation to the series. I loved the opening scenes with her talking about wanting to study bears, and him making jokes about when she might see one.
Both main characters could have done with talking a bit more.
At times the lions felt like pantomime villains. Very interested to see how that works in the next book, which is lion based.

After the tease at the end of the previous book I was super excited to read this, and it didn't disappoint.
I really enjoyed the change from the previous books, in terms of her heart being split between what seems right for the world and what feels right to her.
Great couple in a great world setup.

There's definitely something about the writing style that makes you want to keep reading more.
For my personal tastes I would have liked a little more plot and a bit fewer spicy scenes, but I can't deny that the spice is well written.
It was a long time between me reading books 1 and 2, but I'll definitely pick up the 3rd book soon.
