I’d argue it isn’t Greene’s strongest novel but it’s still a great read. True mystery with a reveal and an ending that totally pay off. Even if it’s not the greatest novel in the world it’s still a fun read.

Honestly this was just pure self indulgence because I’ve loved this movie since I was a child and had never known there was a Golden Book for it. If I’d had this as a child I can only imagine how worn the copy would have been.

It was fine, not as magical as I remember Dahl’s books being but then again this is the first time reading this particular book. I suppose reading this as a child I might have enjoyed it more than reading it as an adult.

Fairly decent, fairly enjoyable. Liked the actual mystical/magical aspect that I’d come to expect from Dahl. A little shocked that this whole thing relied heavily on anti-hunting/animal rights but not disappointed by it. Curious with how obvious that take seems, would I have caught that if I was reading this at age 6 or 7.
