This book was hard to get through and dealt with a lot of heavy topics, such all types of abuse, childhood trauma and behavior that touched on pedophilia (in my opinion; some people are okay with age gaps but this one was too much for me).

With that being said, I found the story of Wavy and her rough upbringing heartbreaking and sad. However, she never gave up hope to fight through all of it and I’m glad she got her happy ending, even if I thought it was a bit weird because of the extreme age gap. 

A hauntingly, beautiful book that throws you right into the center of a remote island filled with a dark past and a family struggling to survive an impossible task, while dealing with their own dark secrets. Hopefulness, tragedy and trauma are woven throughout. It’s definitely one of those books that makes you sit back and think every few pages. 

Also, the imagery in this book is out of this world. The author’s descriptions of the island, the plants and animals that live there made me feel like I was actually right there along for the wild journey of the Salt family.  

Look, I love Lisa Jewell and her books, but something about this one was just not for me. The subject matter was great: women getting revenge, women trying to be seen as more than just a woman. But, I just feel like this book was doing too much and trying too hard to be suspenseful. 

Finally finished this series and I’m kind of sad that it’s over. The Chestnut Springs characters are some of the most well written romance novels characters I’ve ever come across. 

The final book definitely wrapped up the series in a nice little bow for me, as I was always intrigued with this mysterious Beau character from the beginning. 

Another adorable book in the Chestnut Springs series. I think this one is my favorite so far—I see a lot of myself in Winter and I love a book just a tiny bit more when I can relate to the characters. 

Inspired by the real life and journals of Martha Ballard, a midwife during the 1700s, this book is centered around equality, justice and how women were viewed during that time. It’s full of hope, courage and a strong willed female main character. 

I am truly inspired by Martha Ballard, her journals and how she broke glass ceilings that she didn’t even know she was breaking at the time. 

While I still love this series, this was my least favorite book so far. The miscommunication trope always pisses me off and makes me want to throw the book across the room.

Another day, another Chestnut Springs book. I think Cade has to be one of my favorite male main characters I have ever read in a romance novel (and there’s something about a single dad doing the best he can that really does it for me)

Overall, I’m still loving this series and can’t wait to see what comes next. 

I’m an absolute sucker for a good romance novel and that’s exactly what this was. Definitely can’t wait to see what the rest of this series brings.

Although I like the idea of this book, the main character is literally the worst person I ever met and it was a definite struggle to finish this book.
