Jemisin's world-building is so damn well done. The characters, social structures, and relationships are weird, wonderful, and they make perfect sense. Love it.

3.75 stars. Really entertaining!

4.5 stars. Regardless of how you may feel about Hillary Clinton, you have to respect her at the very least. So damn accomplished and pragmatic. And so god-damned qualified. 3.5 stars. Did I L-O-V-E this book? Nah. But I did like it. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this book for years, so I think that may have played into the disappointment. It got REAL good towards the end, but the inherent misogyny and sexism built into the world was 🙄, especially when it was inserted as “comic relief.” Overall, it was entertaining, but I don’t think I’ll be recommending it to anyone...

This was a very sweet story about first love. I would have hated it if I had read it a year or so ago. So I’m glad I read it now. Don’t read if you hate luv.
