This was a fun read. Definitely gave me Janet Evanovich/Stephanie Plum vibes and I will be reading the next book when it comes out!

This book is extremely interesting, and I learned so much about a portion of United States history that they conveniently don’t teach you in school. The Osage were at one point the wealthiest people IN THE WORLD, and this book explores how white people, of course, tried to take that away from them. This nonfiction reads like a narrative, and it unfolds in a very skillful way. The only gripe I had was the audiobook narrators kept changing, which I thought was an interesting choice.

This is such a cute and heartwarming rom-com! I loved all of August’s friends, and if you love a found family trope you’ll love One Last Stop. It’s less steamy than RW&RB, but other than that I don’t want to compare the two books. They are both wonderful and entertaining in their own ways. The audiobook narrator is also pretty good.

Daaaamn this book is really depressing and dark. That ending, though. It was pretty satisfying for me. This isn’t a thriller at all, I’d say it’s more of a drama with a well-done unreliable narrator.
I didn’t intentionally read this book around Mother’s Day, but there you have it. It’s definitely not a happy book by any means, nor is it a celebration of motherhood. It’s bleak, but I liked the way it explored the role of the mother, and the contradictory and impossible expectations women are beset with when they become mothers. Interesting.
CW: death of a child, neglect, post-partum depression, childbirth, the reality of parenthood
