Much better! Not boring. The action was great. I wasn't a fan of some of the new perspectives, but they added some extra depth, though I would not say it was much-needed.
The character development in this was through the roof. It was great. Some of it I did not see coming in the best way possible. I don't want to spoil anything though.
I just feel like this series is sold, but mediocre. I don't really have anything bad to say about this installment, just that I'm not gushing over every bit or absolutely obsessed with it. It is a great read though.

The Goodreads standards for 2 stars "It's okay" is how I feel about this.

I'm also not a fan of the story structure either. I prefer plot-based things and am not a fan of episodic, seemingly unrelated chapters. However, this is not the worse example of this style that I've read. There's a lot more cohesion and continuity to it.

So far the best book of the series. A whole lot better than the rest of the series. I liked it a lot.

As a fan of the original trilogy, I'm really conflicted and have a lot of opinions. I'll be gathering my thoughts and revisiting this review.

This started out more of a three-star read. Engaging and fun, but not much more. Then the plot twists and turns started happening and I was hooked. Loved the wild ride this book took me on as well as the philosophical and moral questioned it posed. Hope I get my hands on the sequel soon. Borrowed this from a friend, so who knows.
Not as good as the other book I've read by this author [b:Scythe|28954189|Scythe (Arc of a Scythe, #1)|Neal Shusterman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1456172676l/28954189._SY75_.jpg|49179216], but it was alright. I wasn't a fan of all the character perspectives nor the snapshot sections, but it was fun to read once I got into it. It's definitely convinced me I'm never going to move to Califonia, not that my Canadian self can function at temperatures above 25C anyway.
I felt like while it was solid in its idea and goal to warn people about how necessary water was, there was so much missing and left unanswered when it came to this being a story and not just a PSA. First off, [Author:Erik Walter]'s [b:The Rule of Three|17934467|The Rule of Three (The Rule of Three, #1)|Eric Walters|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1375932352l/17934467._SX50_.jpg|25142329] did the whole municipal Darwinism and the neighbour turning (or allying) with the neighbour thing a whole lot better than this. It was also paced better too. This book just jumped around a lot and the tension didn't rise as the story progressed int he same way The Rule of Three did.
Also, the ending was disappointing. It just sort of finished. I would have liked to see how it all ended, the behind the scenes of it all. I was left with so many unanswered questions and am not satisfied. I guess one could argue that it was intended because if you don't have water your not satisfied, but again that goes with my point that this book was prioritizing beating the reader over their head with the message instead of showing it through a compelling story.
Also, Hunter sucks.
