This book ws amazingly atmosphereic! I really enjoyed reading it. It combined the feeling of a fairy tale with a dark, Russian inspired cast of spirits. (His made the book a relly unique fanatsy and made it feel both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. The lyrical writing style made me feel safe and it was remenicent of fairytales, but the Russain mythology added an element of uniqueness. I was quick to fall in love with the main character and the author's magical writing style. Unfortunaly this book was just lacking Hhat little something to make it truely special, but this is for sure a memorable read and I cannot wait to continue on with this series.

I don't really want to go into my thoughts because I can't without spoiling it. Just want to say if you pick this up READ ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING, especially the letters at the beginning and the end of the book.
Okay, so this was very interesting but also kinda boring. I felt like I wanted more from it, but this was aimed at a more MG audience and I think I was looking for something that would have come from an adult biography. All the facts and titbits were still so interesting and I loved reading it and the photographs and would totally recommend to any Pullman fan.
I actually really, really enjoyed this book. I was expecting it to be leaning around 3 stars, but it really blew me away. I feel like this book was about what happens after you achieve everything you want and when there is nothing else to strive to be, no better, no one to beat and how it would affect someone brought up in a competitive society. Of course hi book has all the magic schools and books coming to life and boss battles and such (that were epic by the way), but I still feel like at it's core this is a book about getting bored when there is nothing left to be challenging or nothing else worth doing and I felt real akin with it. The third part of this book was the best by far and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Awesome.
I'm not really sure how to review this without spoilers as I've read books 2 and 4-6 before reading this one so my experience was most likely very different than most. I'll just say that this book did not disappoint and I'm so glad to see where Rhapsody's journey started as well as where some characters come from and get more of characters that didn't make it all the way.
And that's it because I don't have anything else to say that isn't in the context of the rest of the series, but please go read this 'cause it's a great fantasy book in the vein of Game of Thrones, but with more magic and I liked it more.

Okay, this was pure awesomeness. I've been feeling such a deep connection with these stories. this was such a level up from The Magicians and I was enthralled the whole time. I enjoy all the world travelling and the look into Julia's past. Fillroy was just perfect <3, as one might expect.
