3.5 I love how Shannon Hale wrote this book. I love her other books and I love this one. This series is great on representation, character development, and much more.

I did not like Sutherland's take on the characters as much as the other authors. She did a few things different that sort of annoyed me. Other than that, all the great things about this series remained the same.

This was Greta and funny and everything you would expect from Rick Riorden. I love how he keeps on tying in his old characters so that they don't disappear.

I enjoyed the travel aspect the most. I'm not to sure on the romance. It seemed a bit much for me since they only met twice.

This was an odd read. I enjoyed it but at the same time I did not. I'm giving it an extra star for originality, as I found that the best part of the book. Would recommend this to others.

1.5 This wasn't a book for me. I found it had much potential, but was lacking way to much in plot. Most of the story was just the character doing deliveries for a the fae with a few mentions of deaths. The plot did not kick in until that last few chapters. Those last few chapters were great though, and saved this book from a 1 star rating.

3.5 This was and enjoyable read. It's an adventure novel about animals, something I wish I'd read when I was younger because I was crazy about these types of novels. The animal-human relationships were a highlight of the novel. I see it in many Junior/Middle Grade reads, but it's not usually handled in this fashion. It was new and fresh. I could also see areas where the authors drew in ideas form myths and legends as well as some other novels, but the were very suttle and mixed in ery well with their original ideas.

3.5 Yikes that was wayyyyyy to short and took such an unexpected yet plausible twist. I won't say any more as to not spoil it.

It's kind of annoying that they didn't finish this series. They left it open with a lot unsolved. I don't think another book is coming out since this was published in 2014. Still, I am glad I read The Familiars, I just wish I was younger.

Still an enjoyable series to read. I wish they'd focus a bit less on Aldwyn and a bit more on the other Familiars and the Loyals.
