i really liked the characters and the writing, but i wasn’t super impressed w the main conflict. i think it could have been done better. also i HATE when they “accidentally” forget a condom!!!! like what if she wasnt on the pill??? what if one of yall wasnt clean??? an accidental pregnancy could literally ruin someone’s life, but they can just FORGET a condom AND not pull out

i wish there were a few more interactions between the characters, but i liked how flawed they were, the historical setting was nice, and this was good for a debut! i was honestly interested in all of the characters, and i am excited to read more from this author!

obviously, no two people will agree on everything 100%, but i get pretty dang close with carter. i have such an insane amount of love and respect for him. i truly believe he tried his best to make this country a better place, and we failed him.

this was sweeter than i thought it would be!! i enjoyed all aspects of the story, it just wasn’t mind-blowingly amazing. also, i dont usually like age gaps, but i did like that the age gap wasnt the focus of the tension within the relationship
