obviously a solid read since it is a veronica speedwell mystery, but it isnt my favorite because the first 40% was a little bit boring to me. i honestly think it was because the chapters are kinda long. 

i wish this had ended after the thing with elias’s dad. it felt like she was trying to tie up loose ends that weren’t there. also, i love to suspend disbelief, but the way everything worked out in this book was maybe a little too convenient.

overall, though, elias and sage were great together, and also i love the cover lol

the first half of this was suchhhhh a slog to get through. the second half was more action packed but not enough to make up for it

i liked the ending, but unfortunately, most of the book did not live up to the usual lana ferguson standards for me :/

i feel like the zadie smith intro really elevated the story. i wouldnt recommend reading one without the other
