the first half of this book was fine, but the second half was phenomenal! the side characters were a little hard for me to keep up with, but i liked them! i am not sure how i feel about aurora, but i’m sure i will make my mind up when her book comes around

i liked the couple & their story, but i did not really like the competition subplot
informative

another pretty bland presidential biography. didnt learn a whole lot, but learned some. even though it wasnt that long, i still found that some parts had too much historical context and weren’t focused enough on polk. i did like that the author tried to make a point at the end, even though i partially disagreed with his point. also, i wish it would have talked more about his enslaved people

i didnt love the way that the story was executed, but it wasnt bad.
i did HATE the scene where she hit him tho. i was legit just watching a video like a day or two ago that was talking about how wrong it is that we let women hit men in books. that part was really not it

if you dare: 3.75/5. adventurous and exciting with an interesting secondary romance. i just wished they would have apologized more to each other for being so mean in the beginning, and i felt like the ending was a little rushed.
if you desire: 3.75/5. it was cute and interesting, but hugh isnt my fav hero.
if you deceive: 3.75/5. i wanted ethan to grovel a little more before the end! but overall i did enjoy this. for a pretty emotional book, it was weirdly funny in some parts.
overall, i liked this series but wanted to like it more than i did. there were some really good scenes, tho, and i still love kresley cole.
