what’s not to love about this enchanting debut? fmc is a historian! believable insta-love! magnificent chemistry! fun adventure! healthy male friendships! unique writing!

one grievance i did have, tho, was a continuity error wherein she says that she hasnt seen him since an event 3 days prior, then refers to that event as “yesterday” later in the chapter. it cant be yesterday and 3 days ago!

there was nothing wrong with this book, i just wasnt vibing w the writing and i truly did not care about anything that was happening. there were some sweet moments, but not enough to make me want to finish 

i wanted the romance to be a little bit more central to the story, but i still thought this was a super unique and fun book from jenn bennett!! i was excited for myself too because i guessed the plot twist, but it was still interesting

Don’t Want You Like A Best Friend is a strong debut. I doubt it will have any trouble finding readers with its title, cute cover, and fun premise. I had some trouble believing in the development of their friendship at the beginning because I just didn’t feel that much chemistry between them, nor did I feel like they had a lot in common, but as they developed from friends to lovers, I became fonder of their relationship. The whole cast of supporting characters is also super lovable! It is overall a very well written book, and I thought the conflict was compelling. The third person present tense isn’t my favorite, but it didn’t ruin my enjoyment. The intimacy is done well, and the first kiss scene is absolutely phenomenal. Absolutely would recommend. The epilogue did a great job setting up for the next book, which I am excited for!

the world building was hard for me to follow, but the writing was strong, especially for a debut, and i am excited to see what happens next in this world. the romance is done really well so far, and i hope it continues on an upward trajectory. my biggest issue with this was that, usually, the most impressive part of fanfiction is its ability to become separate from its source material, but the first half of this felt too much like reylo fanfic, and i didn’t really feel its strength as a standalone work until the second half. 

this was good, but there was nothing about it that made me super emotionally attached to it. 

this was, to me, what i wanted from “everything i know about love” by dolly alderton. i really enjoyed it and don’t understand why it doesnt have a higher rating!!! the content was good, and the writing was phenomenal. 

this was well-written with interesting world building, but i just didnt like wendell as much as i was supposed to :/
