the whole book was so good just for the ending to be garbage. im pissed

Overall, it was a super cute book! I was slightly dissatisfied with the ending because there was a lot of build up and not a lot of closure. I can’t wait to read the next one!

this is the third or fourth time i have read this book. i love it so much. every time i read it i have to do it in one sitting. it is beautiful in so many ways. there are parts of it that i would hate if they were in other books, but it just works. it works. this book just works.

a good sequel. definitely more serious, whereas the first was more whimsical. still really liked it. a fun, relatable christmas read

At first, I liked the story but I thought Monty’s voice was annoying. It turns out he was just going through an arc and the book turned out to be one of the most beautiful things I have ever read. I also love Love LOVE the diversity. We don’t see this much diversity in most contemporary novels, much less historical fiction.

REREAD #1: Still very, very good. The character development is impeccable. I love the whimsical sense of adventure with the pirates and the Lazarus Key, but, as always, the romance is my favorite part. I love Percy and Monty’s relationship. I also love their characters. In fact, I love every single character in this novel. It is truly a great book with so many beautiful quotes.

REREAD #2: This book is just so beautiful. I love Mackenzi Lee for giving it to me. It is beautifully written and impressively researched. I will never not love the characters in this book and the wide variety of historical and cultural topics that it covers
