i didn’t love this as much as i thought i was going to. it was interesting and well-written, but i disagreed with some of his ideas and found some parts rather preachy. 

the illustrations were very good, and i liked that the story was creative. 

this book was beautifully written, but there were some parts that were too ramble-y. and i really hated that sadie kept hanging out with her abuser. and i did not like the ending. we spent such a long time with these characters, and it just felt rushed. idk. 

the writing is good, but there were certain aspects of the plot that i didnt like. 

i didn’t like diana very much at the beginning, but i thought this was cute and i really liked jeremy. it was hard to keep up with all of the characters though. 

i liked this, but not as much as i thought i would. in this edition, there were some typos. i also thought sometimes the writing was cringey, sometimes galen was too forceful, and it was boring at parts. like it definitely could have been shorter. but i did like the romance and some of the historical information that she put in. 

this was definitely cute, but i had some issues with the writing. i wish we had more lucas chapters, and i didnt think lucas’ character was fleshed out enough. i also didnt like all the scenes that we didnt get to see the end of. and some lines were cringey. but overall, it was a standard romance book that i did enjoy. i did like that the characters werent too stereotypical. like they werent just grumpy, good girl, nerd, etc. 

objectively…this book doesnt have the greatest characters. at first, i wasnt super into it, but i ended up LOVING it!!!! definitely a new comfort read for me. i can understand why other people wouldnt like it but it made me very emotional. i really loved the writing. it is sally thornes best written book imo. i also liked the political, social, and religious themes as well as the references to mary shelleys frankenstein. and it warmed my heart that it was dedicated to christina lauren. 

however…after reading reviews, i do understand that this book would be very bad if the genders were swapped, and that makes me a bit more critical of it

for basically the entire middle section of the book, i was very confused. i cant say that i completely understand the hype of this being so many peoples favorite book, but the end was very sweet and i ended up enjoying it a lot.
