this is one of the most tender books ive ever read.

lovable characters, good writing, perfect pacing!

the reviews and descriptions of this book felt like lies. it was not at all an “ode to tennis,” it barely talked about tennis. it barely talked about endings. and i didnt find it funny or insightful at all. very disappointing 

in my opinion, this book was not what it said it was going to be. it was more like a child’s guide to debating rather than a discussion of greatness and what counts as greatness in different fields. i think this book could be valuable for many young people, but i wish the marketing had been done differently 

the writing in this was really great, even if the content wasn’t always the most beautiful 

this was such a unique premise! it didnt feel like a contemporary romance and i could never tell what would happen next, which was so refreshing!

i did think it was weird tho that her best friend had slept with her eventual husband😭😭😭
