So many twists and turns, literal emotional rollercoaster.
I dub this the calm before the Empire of Storms.

I definitely am late to reading this series and knew a little bit about it from being on the internet. I had suspicions about the plot twist at the end here, so was nice to have confirmation of that! I know things are certainly going to kick off after this.
Dorian is still number one in my heart though, boy deserves the world.

Also why didn’t anyone prepare for how much I was going to love Elorcan??? I feel they have been highly underrated in this. Why are they my favourite ship rn
I haven't had this much fun reading a book in so long! I couldn't stop smiling and was giddy the entire time I read this.
This book has:
- arranged marriage trope
- protagonists that dont meet again until they're adults and don't recognize each other so use fake alias's
- masked vigilantes
- underground magic cage fighting ?!
And so much more! It's all set in this beautiful, colourful, world inspired by Indian and South Asian culture. This has become my new comfort read!

Overall a good and easy Cinderella-esque retelling that requires minimal mental commitment.
Definitely preferred the story, characters, and relationship dynamic in this book as opposed to Deal with the Elf King.
