There is some nostalgia because I read these book in middle school. However it’s so hard to overlook the misogyny and racism that are so blatant in this series.
Top it off with the very inappropriate relationship and it’s difficult to like it at the same level 13 year old me did. And I don’t even feel like I want to ship them because there’s literally no reason for them to be together outside of the lust.
I feel like this series had potential especially because at the time it was a very unique spin on the vampire world. As per my redivide of the first book, had she explored the themes of indoctrination and the role of politics more in her book I think it would have been better.

Rereading for the nostalgia vibes honestly. However in the re read I’m seeing a lot of things I don’t agree with that I’m hoping change as our character grows.
